well, we all love money, it's kinda normal, but there's a line that needs to be drawn... i mean...

how can you not feel disheartened about society when people ask for the charity money back from indonesia cuz of the corby situation as if the whole thing relates to each other? or when american rappers promote violence so soon after september 11? there's still some good in the world, and we all delve into a bit of sin every now and then, but society as a whole? its kinda depressing.

i should go to sleep, shouldn't i? been up for a while now....

i was going to tell you how much it does have something to do with everything, about how consumerism still reigns despite a tragedy in humanity.... but then you just got me very upset.

No seriously, the fact that people purchase Rap CDs after september 11 really has nothing to do with whether average australians are immoral or greedy.

And there's violence all over the world, everyday. Saying that we should have stopped buying rap CDs after september 11 is just silly, there was violence occuring on september 10, and violence occuring on september 12.
you've entirely missed my point, and it's so painful that i might leave now. did i ever say we should stop buying rap cd's??? its a fucking example about humanity. i'm aware that violence occurs all the time, but it seems today that some australians don't and only think so when the media says so, so calm down, we're on the same side, you're just taking it to the extreme

And what's more is that your immoral australians are actually doing something to stop that violence, such as peace keeping forces in East Timor or troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The future of accessable tertiary education
Australia's immigration policy (particularly mandatory detention) and how we should change it to make it work in a more humane and effective way
Trying to find solutions for problems in the third world
Trying to find a way forward for reconcilliation without simply relying on meaningless tokenism
The media (anything happening to it, with it, it's future, freedom of expression, corporate issues)
Freedom of expression in general is a cause very close to my heart
Environmental issues (some days I want to shoot people at Coles for their plastic bag overusage)

Before uni i was a real socialist. Now i am turning into a libertarian. But a real one, not the halfhearted Liberal Party type.

I guess I jumped on the marxist bandwagon six years earlier than most people do - I jumped right off when I say the ugly dyke toads who were pushing the line and the unoriginal manufactured shit they spouted out of their mouths. University made me realise just how stupid humanity is.

I don't care about the common man now. Nietzsche and Russel were right - Power is the ultimate motivation of man and that is what I want.

Screw society. There is no society - only individuals and Margaret Thatcher's rotting corpse.

I think the same criticisms libertarians apply to government can be applied to big business. I am beginning to think a free market would be great - especially once we get rid of copyright and patent laws which of course distort the free market. Competition is bliss and the ACCC needs more power to keep up competition. Bye-bye monolith Telstra!

I need to quit the ALP. I don't know what party to join now - Young Liberals are wankers and not real libertarians.

There is always the fishing party?
i thought you were a real libertarian?
why do you need to join a party if society doesn't exist?

also i don't think being power hungry and self-obsessed is the same as libertarianism
libertarians are conscious of the liberties of others

Important 1ssues for me:
-Global environmental issues - Amazon rainforest, global warming, sutainable development in China and India
-gradual erosion of Australia's democracy through fear campaigns, self-interest politics, new proposed electoral laws
-The demise of the ALP
-Stripping workers rights in the name of productivity or the economy (IR reforms)
-The threat posed to Venezuela and other sovereign nations in general by Bush
-The general state of US politics/democracy
-The lib/nat Senate Majority
-the 2billion or whatever people who are living in poverty and without dignity

The closest thing is the Liberal Democrats which is an ACT party.

The Young Liberals don't claim to be Libetarians they are way to conservative.

Democracy doesn't exist, sunshine. Deal with it. Democracy is not freedom anyway. Why would you want a stupid majority of people imposing on your rights as a minority? The entire concept is bullshit. We are all slaves and most of us don't realise it.
where is the logical conclusion to that approach anyway?
it's true that democracy isn't freedom
but you're probably mistaken if you think there is any real social manoeuvrability to allow you to gain power
guess you'll be a slave like everyone else

At the moment it doesn't and it probably never will in it's intended form. It is imperfected, agreed, but i can't think of a better compromise. If we make an effort to create an informed and aware society, I think a better form democracy is possible, but some people have a vested interest in denying the people their will.

The apathy in Australians isn't something that is just found in Australia, it is a procces of social developement in the era of Imperialism.

The only real social conscious is that of class conscious and thats when you elevate yourself beyond social being. This is when you start to make connections and become aware of worldwide problems and begin to concern yourself with these problems.

The reason why people are not concerned with the larger problems is the lack of material conditions of class war because of Imperialism. When the anti Imperialist movement starts to grow, or wins in Iraq then you will see a move in the average middle class Australian interest, when they realise that imperialist capitalism can no longer keep there standard of living.

I after some time and some experience you realise that there is no one answer. No one party that represents.
You should never be a slave to the party line.
which means that you should chose the party that represents you best. Plus if you join a party then you can help create the party line, thus making it represent you're particular views even more.
For example just because Im a member of the labor party doesn't mean i am a slave to the party line, I have my own mind and my own opinions, and they dont always agree with the party line. Although most fo them do. Which is why I joined in the first place. That and the family thing, seeing as how I had to help at every electon anyways I figured I may as well join up.... But thats not the point.
The point is that you just have to chose the party that represents you best. The lesser of the evils if you will.

'Interest rates and whether I can afford stuff' - says the average apathetic Australian!

1996 to current has to be the 'Greed is good part 2 ' and 'me first get the fuck out of my way'. No one cares one little bit about anyone else but themselves. Unless the media says so.

I really do think Australia has been turnt into a money hungry immoral wastebasket of people who are slaves to the media. More concerned about whether they can get that latest comsumer goody than in any notions of justice or fairness.

Most of Australia is nothing more than mindless drones. Slaves to the lastest cool consumer good.

Economic liberty has taken the front seat and kicked social liberty and redefined it as 'me first fuck you'...
that's a LOVELY generalisation
