What HSC Subjects Are You Guys Doing? (1 Viewer)

We were talking to our CApps teacher today, and he said something on the lines that we can't drop the 1u subject next term as we won't complete the neccessary hours to do so.

Is this true? Whats the amount of hours that we must complete in Year 11 for the course to be completed?

The only extensions you can pick up are history and languages I think. you can't pick up english or maths.

You can pick extension courses in languages, history and music in year 12, while technically you can pick up extension 2 maths and english in year 12, but you must have at least done the preliminary HSC course for the extension 1 subjects in those courses before you can pick up those extension 2 courses.[comment]End pedantic-ness[/comment]

i dunno if i'm wrong but if your 10 best units count... how will eng ext count because your other subjects are going to be worth 2 units?

for eg if your marks were like this:

economics 90
biology 90
english adv 85
maths 2u 90
physics 90
english ext 50/50

then how would english ext count, as all your other 2u subjects need to so you get the hsc?

Well, they'll take in eng ext in too as it's the hightest mark. They'll have to split one of the other subjects into a 1 unit (ie out of 50) to make up of a total of 10 units.

I believe they halve your lowest mark of the 10 units (In this case Eng.Adv), and add your ext.eng mark to it.

Considering picking up another unit of maths and dropping to standard english maybe?

1 lesson of legal left...stoked =]


ps. i'm pretty sure every 2U subject (out of 100) is divided into two 1U (out of 50) so they can count your best 10units
