if price discrimination is under consumer laws as an influence on marketing, does it make it illegal? I was looking over a QATS 2022 paper and the answers make it seem like its pretty normal.

Price discrimination actually isn't illegal (according to the ACCC) and is actually a very normal and common business practice because if done properly it can incentivise consumers to spend more which benefits the company and drives up revenue, it's only illegal if it they price discriminate in a misleading/deceptive way which violates Australian Consumer Law or if it creates a monopoly or ruins competition in a market
