It is also to write proper english, in a formal register
Your response to your related material should be as good as your response to the prescribed text. Dont think of it in terms of a response to your text, think of the response in the context of an essay, that way, you learn how much time and space to allocate for each text. Writing a response for your related material should be done when you have first analysed it. You then cut it down to about one or two paragraphs to fit into an essay. Unless your school has asked you for an extra external piece of work to write a response ONLY on your related material then here are some things you should consider:
+The text type they ask you to write your response in
+The audience and responders of your analysis
+In each paragraph you should say:
WHAT is being said (your focus journey)
HOW is it being said (your technique)
EVIDENDCE that it is being said (quote)
and WHAT is the VALUE of it being said (what effect it gives, and why it is important regarding the focus journey)
+Use words like: similarly, contrastingly, on the other hand, however etc. it is also seen in in your work to give it a sense of logical flow.
What is the view point of the composer in your resource material? Who is the intended responder? What is the purpose of the text? Explain your answer.
This is what should be included in each paragraph as well. Its should answer/explain these questions.
