How do you gain access to the 1989 paper? Is there a link?
http://4unitmaths.com/angelfiremirror.html this website has all the papers from before 2000. Good luck, the paper is a monster towards the end.

Pretty sure you need 95+ Raw for a state rank but it also depends on your internal mark.
For internal marks in general do they just take into account your ranks and fit them to the hsc marks or actually look at the marks you are getting? Because I am the only one at my school doing extension 2, so I will be first no matter what.

Yeah they only look at the ranks and the difference in marks between the ranks. Your lucky being the only one if your class, this means your external mark will be your internal mark. However this can go both ways lol

Yeah lol It's a bit worrying thinking that the hsc exam literally completely determines my overall mark for ext 2. It's a bit like that in a lot of my other classes as well, as we have like 5-6 people in physics and chem. It is good though if I want to get that state rank in ext 2 though.

Did you download the solutions off a website? If so, you could just attach the link to the website. But thanks anyway

Oh dear have you tried the boredofstudies 4u trials?
I tried the 2018 one but not under timed conditions. I honestly don't think I could get above like 50 - 60% in them timed, the questions were insane from pretty early on

Actual previous state rankers got like high 60's in it. Even a math olympian only got high 60s iirc. They are insane, but good practice for those who are trying for a state rank...

And actually the 2018 bos paper was the easiest one out of the lot...

Ok cool I'll give some of them a try. Might ruin my confidence on trying to state rank though lol.

Come do the BoS trials this year!
Lol I'll try a few of the past ones and if I do decently in them I might come and give it a try. Would be a bit embarrassing if I got like 10% or something in it though.

Hi all
I am aiming for a state rank, preferably top 5, in this years's extension 2 maths hsc, and want to know what types of raw marks I should be aiming for to achieve the goal. I have done several past trials, and generally score in the high 90s, though they are self marked, so that may be off. Some papers I have done under timed conditions that I can remember are:
2018 HSC - Received 96/100
2017 HSC - 97/100
2016 HSC - 98/100
2000 HSC - 115/120
2003 HSC 120/120
CSSA 2009 Paper - 117/120
Independent 2009- Paper - 116/120
CSSA 2014 Paper - 98/100

Again, these marks may be off, as I self marked them all. Is my goal realistic? Thank you in advance for any advice.
Spinner 🤣

For 2017, I know for a fact you needed 100 for State Rank, because I got 99 raw and that wasn't State Rank. :(

Is this maths extension 2 or 1? Because I was under the impression that pretty much no one got 100% raw for extension 2.

Pretty sure there will be certain years where the top few will get full marks in MX2.
Yeah that seems accurate, but the only year I've heard of it happening was 1993. 2017 was an easier year IIRC, so all the top 10 getting 100 raw seems sort of plausible I guess.

Not sure about all the top 10 getting 100 raw, but I'm pretty sure at least one or two would get it.
Yeah I guess. I heard about the top last year only getting like 98 raw, which is why I thought the comment about 99 raw not being a state rank at all was a little off
