Just expanding on what SoulSearcher said it depends on the school and their policies and when\if you have free sessions.

Currently I'm up at 7:30 to leave the house by eight. When and if I start catching the bus again, it'll be 6:30.

Why the hell does everyone start school so damn early??? And why are all the times different for each day? How many bloody frees does everyone have??
Rollcall at my school is around 8:45 (I think) and we have to be there for it, or we are considered 'late' and get a detention if we don't bring in a note explaining our lateness.
On a normal day (i.e. Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri) first period starts at around 8:55 or 9:00, something like that. Recess starts at 10:47 and goes for 20 minutes. Lunch is 40 minutes long and starts at 12:41. School finishes everyday at 3:05pm. On Wednesdays the times vary because we have assembly or year meetings.
If we have a free first period we still have to come to school for rollcall, and we can't leave if we have a free unless our free is last period, or unless we don't have anymore classes for that day. And some year 12 teachers offer optional morning lassons starting at around 7:45.
