Why is it a bad idea? I'm sure he's mature enough to maintain a friendship with the girl even if its nothing more than that.
Rubbish, excommunicating is an excellent idea.

No trust me, listen to some depressing music, you know whatever the hell, get it all out, be sad for a week or whatever, but then completely change you, your scene, your attitude, and stay with friends and keep busy. Anytime you start to think of her or remember immdiatly stop it, stop it dead and think of something else, pretend she doesn't exist.

Eventually you will form a bitter and cynical attitude towards women which will serve you well for the next few years until you actually meet someone who is right, not just someone you thought was right.

haha, i just wanna say thanks to you, your effort to help me will not be forgotten. I have to say, most of the things you've mentioned are really useful to me because i think you understood the situation really well. It's nice to have someone that understands your problems and willing to help you with it. Sometimes even my close friends can't help me with those problems that i have.

i'm more than grateful for what you've done :)

My ex and I broke up the night before my 18th birthday at about 11:30 pm or so... I spent that night n my birthday crying even though i thought it was time our relationship ended.... We were going out for almost like 8 months and we had never had any problems til the last 2 weeks... then it was over and i couldn't feel anything. I was numb and empty... now when we talk it's like i'm talking to a stranger who is constantly trying to make me jealous and I've realised all the pain wasn't worth it, I didn't even celebrate my birthday (huge regret). I wasted months feeling like crap and isolating myself... even turning down great opportunities because i was too scared i would get hurt again... Now it's all good. You'll find most ppl think about their ex's from time to time, at least now when i do it doesn't hurt anymore... I just think "yeah ok it was good but there's better out there." We shared some good times and i thought i was soooo in love but i know that i'm moving onto something great.... I thought we'd have to atleast stay friends... I think at that time and up until now we both still needed each other... not anymore!!!

Don't ever get in a situation where your emotional well-being is dependent on another person/thing/bottle of cognac. You’re a weak-minded person if you do.
very wise advice. i think it can be hard to do but you do always have to keep independent.
