yeah when taken down to the nearest decimal place or whatever, she (and the girl who came 2nd) would have beaten me, but we both got a hsc mark of 99 which gets scaled the same when determining uai's,would it not?

I'm happy with 3rd but I knew the minute I came out of the exam that I made a stupid mistake in the multiple choice, so you never know, that may have been the deciding factor.

congrats on your first in maths :) you were in my local paper haha.
nah, you wouldn't get same scaled mark as the top and the second top would have got higher raw results and the scaling is done on the raw mark. But still, it should be very similar.

umm scaling is done on raw marks, not aligned marks. so not all 99s go to 99 or whatever. some high 99s may go to 99.3 and some low ones scale to 99.1

take english extension
1st in state gets the same aligned mark as like 50th in state. but scaling differs by quite a bit.
