Re: Can you get marked down in 2 unit math exam for not using a ruler or not labeling

Lol i lost 6 marks in my trial, 2 for not labeling x and y, 1 for not having the "approximation" symbol for trapezoidal rule, i instead did "->" as in, leads to. Two for having the answer as "-2lnx" instead of "ln1/x^2" and one for saying "displacement" as oppose to "distance" in an explanation. According to the teacher, the marking criteria specified "distance". lololol
1. That's harsh.
2. An arrow isn't acceptable and so, you should be penalised.
3. I don't see a problem with your answer. Was it (ln1)/x^2 or was it ln(1/x^2)?
4. That's a bit tight-ass but distance and displacement are distinctly different, that's fair but still too harsh.

Why would you even risk it??? It doesn't require much effort. Suck it up, fool.

Depends on the wording of the question.

I can foresee marks being deducted for not labelling either axis, vertices, etc, properly.

That would depend on how the whole state performed, but you could say around 93-94

I'd also like to know. I know for certain i lost 10 marks already (from not knowing how to do questions), and I hope I didnt make any stupid mistakes in my other answers.
I really hope it gets an HSC mark of 95 because that's what I'm hoping for to pull up my ATAR :(

You're raw mark should be 90+ in order to acheive a mark like this.

Can you actually lose marks for not putting approximately equal to for Simpson's rule and the trapezoidal rule?

Yes you can, it's technically not correct if you only put the equal sign.
