For corporate finance: Comm/Law at USYD or UNSW.
For trading/structuring: Mathematics/Statistics/Actuarial

And a diploma in networking. Networking is essential these days. If you can skip HR then you are doing well. Best to get your CV to the head of the department or the like.

what's better ...a STRAIGHT economics degree (first class hons) or double economics/finance (international or quantitative????)

So why do you want to work in IB? Why do you want to work in trading? What do you think traders do on a daily basis?

Cos you seem to have no idea about what you are getting into. You want someone else to choose a degree for you for a career you know very little about.

I asked you where you want to end up as there are vastly different skill sets involved in IB. M&A is completely different to structuring. You wont see any com/law people in structuring.

If you want to do trading or something else quant. I'd do Mech/Elec/Aero Eng and Science (stats) or something similar. Better to get a professional qualification especially with the way the job market is at the moment.

A Bachelor of Arts will suffice.

Economics is not quant enough to be a trader. Maybe a cash trader, that's about it.

An economics and finance double is really one degree. They are nearly identical. Better off doing something which gives you a broader skill set.

As im sure you would know from your extensive research, Ibankers have varied backgrounds however the most common degrees are known to be Commerce or Commerce law in traditional investment banking departments.

And what is 'a finance'? You should know that Ibanking is dependent on relationships and image. If you can't cohesively string together a simple sentence I would probably do a B Arts first so you can learn some english.

i didn't do physics or specialist maths in high school so i don't think i can do that. so now wat commerce and law den? don't reallly see the point of law..
