its always been. Its another day of social expectation. But society creates many of these days, valentines day, xmas, easter, weddings, engagements. they are all days that costs heaps of money to celebrate something that you could celebrate with little or no money but society deems the more you spend on celebrating something the better. But in the end thats all vday is surposed to be a day where you celebrate beeing with someone you love. but its been exploited. regardless of my distaste for the day (which is only because of not having something to celebrate) its still a total crock. but i say the same about most of the comercial and non comercial holidays.
