Induction motors are used in various power tools etc. They are actually resonably common, easy variable speed compared to large control systems required for syncrhonous motors.

Yeah I know. I was referring the the AC synchronous motor which is much less common, and consequentially not in the syllabus.

i think u can jsut enrol, even without faculty's permission...

just go to my uni, change the enrolment and voila... u r done...

i had to talk alil for my way into adv phys cuz i got 89 (the guide says band6) but when i changed my uos, they didn't even ask my marks... all i said was: "i wanna do adv phys" they r like "ok, there's a letter, take to sci faculty and change ur enrolment"... i thought i needed to do more talkin than taht so i was like

Hahaha I had to do the same thing with physics, but as soon as I told the dude over in science my UAI and maths marks he let me in...

As you all know...I have chosen all my units of study at adv level.

Semester 1:

PHYS 1901 Physics 1A (Advanced) `````````````- 6 CP

MATH 1902 Linear Algebra (Advanced) `````````- 3 CP
CHEM 1901 Chemistry 1A (Advanced) `````````- 6 CP
SOFT 1901 Software Development 1/(Adv) `````- 6 CP

Semester 2:

PHYS 1902 Physics 1B (Advanced) ```````````````````````- 6 CP

The COSC subjects are pretty easy, even the advanced equivalent. PHYS is more of an interest for me, doesnt matter how i go. SOFT i must get atleast credit for and for MATH i wasnt planning on doing advanced but they guy suggested i do it (ill be doing MATH 1904 also).

trust me, it's worth doing adv maths. Normal maths just doesn't cut it

hey dark_angel (real name preferred ), haven't seen you for ages. Congrats on your decision to do adv sci, you won't regret it.
I did all adv except bio as I had never done it at the prelim/hsc level. I got into newc this year so I guess i dont need to do the gamsat (phew).
I was surprised when i was in first year, as everyone around (like everyone) me were doing all advanced subjects. All the adv sci guys will be doing all advanced subjects (maybe not bio tho, or no bio at all).
