Some ideas: a picture of a tank, plane or machine gun in battle, propaganda poster, also one from the home front such as women working in a factory would be good. It would probably be good to have 2-3 of them as written sources. It is imperiative to talk about the destructive nature of machine guns, cannons, mortars, tanks (mechanised warfare), that make WWI the first truely modern battle. Also a source depicting a factory would show how the war effort was sustained on the home front with female labour and machinery to increase production of goods, etc.

You'll have to dig around a library, teachers and the net.

Try going to armchairgeneral. com forums. They have guys there that are real history buffs and can tell you almost everything about World War One. Here is the site and page for its World War One sub-forum-

If you can, try to go to wikipedia. You may contradict me, but I find wikipedia one of the most accurate sources of information for history as it is typed by students from military academies such as West Point, Sandhurst, Norwich and Texas A and M. Students also from high ranking universities also go there, so go there for a basic background on the subject and for pictures which they have a prodigious library of here-

If I was to do the assignment, I would implement in my assignment a tank, a Vickers, Hotchkiss or Maschingewher 08/15 machine gun, a plane and mustard gas and its effects or a Zeppelin if I find the gas too hard to do.

Here is a list of good World War One sites for you to go with Wooz's-

Here is a good movie clip of a French movie called Un long dimanche de fiançailles that may help you in your assignment.

I hoped I've helped.

You can use diary entries of Generals like Hindenburg, Falkenhayn, Haig and others on their views on technology, such as the machine gun or the tank. Primary accounts of soldiers who witnessed the inflicting of damage by artillery or the tanks. The use of aircrafts and blimps would have been witnessed by both soldiers and civilians alike. Images of the craters created by artillery, for instance, Passchendaele. etc etc
