hi all

a 'friend' of mine (charlie) has just told me something.
Through the talk i found out the following:

charlie has passed on to the school counsellor on Thursday details about my 'wrists' problem. :burn:

You might be thinking, why is this person complaining? well that's because it's none of charlie's business if i'm doing anything about my 'wrists'.

Anyway charlie told me that the school counselor might speak to me in a few days.

Any of you had friends refer you to the school counselor?
How did it turn out?
Did you appreciate your friend's concern?

masturbating is healthy.... just alternate hands =D
i don't think a person who has a problem like that would need to be referred to the school counselor
wtf's a 'wrist problem'?

do you cut your wrists?
I might.

haha, i know eh? im like err 'wrist problem' wths thats :S
cutting
Same here. There are 2 types of "wrist" problems...
is one of them a dirty one? because if it, i don't want to hear it thanks :)D
Why would you slit your wrists  ? Sometimes NT's make no sense.
what's NT?
maybe cause it's addictive and it releases endorphins making the person happy :)
friend, make certain you slit downwards, not across.
downwards?

yeap it's definitely addictive.
The person practicing this will disregard the blood, as cutting is a sign of something they actually have control over, and gives them a feeling of 'good'.
ANd what does a person do when some feels good? the person wants more..

Tell your friend to get fucked, that's a total betrayal.

I'm not going to preach to you, you should do what you like, look after yourself etc...

You may find this behaviour becomes embarrassing and a consistent issue between yourself and parents/friends/authority figures though. They won't understand and will continue to hassle you about it. They only care about you and think they're doing what's best. It may be easier in the long run to quit.

Yeah, well lets put it this way. You're going to have quite a bit to deal with in the coming days, alot of which you probably don't need.

Although you might feel "cutting" is a perfectly safe method of release, it is actually very dangerous. I know right? Who would have thought slitting your wrists was dangerous? What it is, is emulating suicide. It's an insane practice and is probably more detrimental to your mind than it is your body.

What I would recommend is that upon consultation with whomever it is that approaches you about this issue explain that you've dealt with it.

In the mean time try and get over whatever it is that has put you in this situation. If the cause of your wrist problem is seeking control then I would like to shatter that false reality. It is a lack of control that leads you towards this path and it doesn't get better from there. This path leads to less control, less trust amongst your peers and loved ones, it will not end well.

Again, nobody truly has control or power. These are merely illusions easily shattered.

my friends went to the counsellor and told her i was anorexic.

they then told me i had to go to the counsellor that lunchtime or she'd call my mum. i went and she still called my mum.

i was pissed off.

don't cut downwards, that's how you commit suicide, so unless you have any intention of killing yourself anytime soon, if you insist on cutting your wrists, keep it horizontal. or go out for a run/eat chocolate. that also releases endorphins.

It's virtually impossible to kill yourself by cutting your wrists, whichever way you slash, just saying.

It's theoretically possible of course, lots of things are possible, but it just doesn't work.

fair point. well, if you slash downwards, you'll potentially end up in hospital needing a blood transfusion?

The friend didn't really have any right. That's your business, and they should not have interfered. I would have a chat with that 'friend'.

As for the endorphins, there are a number of other ways to release them which don't involve self harm. Like hermand said, each chocolate, or go for strenuous exercise. Orgasms release endorphins as well.

You said that your 'wrist problems' give you control, but you also said that its addictive. What will you do when you reach that point were the addiction overcomes the control?
