Examples: Firefox instead of Internet Explorer, OpenOffice instead of Microsoft Office, Ubuntu Linux instead of Windows. Important, and embedded in the use of OpenOffice, is the switch to an open document format, so that students and staff are not personally locked into Microsoft by proxy due to their school or employer.
