Just dependant if they're required to have all that processingpower for multimedia work / CAD programs.

Other than that, it is a bit excessive for a pc. I used to be a comp freak.. now I just cbb'd. Whatever my comp is, it is. i'll upgrade parts if i need to, but that's it.

Nice cpu and ram.
But hdd and gpu are like..overkill. I dunno, u mite need ALL that space, but two HD 4870X2 cards? Aren't they like 2gigs each? So thats 4gigs of vram! OVERKILL!!! Or maybe its 1gig each, making it 2gigs of vram. STILL OVERKILL!!! But would be nice to have tho.. :)

You better not have worked ur ass off to earn 7500$ just so u could get this pc, otherwise complete waste of moneys.

ah ok. I know nothing about linux tho, so i cant comment. Windows for me all the way, i'll stick with vista ultimate on my lappy, my games run fine on that, ive never had any problems with vista, at least that i couldnt fix. Manhunt didnt work at first, i fixed something, and then it did. Apart from that, vista's pretty cool.

I have to say, XP is the best (for me at least), Apple comes close only because it is easy to use, and has previously mentioned, it's good for basic multimedia stuff, Linux I do like....BUT it does sometimes annoy me when using it, but then again it saved all my files when my OS last crashed and died! and Vista? Well...vista can go where the sun don't shine! I personally cannot stand it, but I've found that it's really good for some people, so yea I'm not all that against it if some people find it better....just a matter of opinion I guess. The worst thing is that both my uncle and sister have Vista, I have XP, they aren't very good with computers....so I'm constantly being called up when either one has a problem and chances are the way I'd usually fix that problem won't work on their PCs! Gah!

Oh and XP Service Pack 3? Yea try and stay clear....everyone I know who put it on their comps have ended up with their PCs crashing....thus they re-install XP again and stay with SP2, if anyone actually has SP3 and has had it work fine, well....my hat goes off to you!

They wouldn't have systems with those specs for those activities, it'd be more on CPU cycles, not top of the range video cards.

Rendering, memory and space are the problems with multimedia, not being able to play Crysis with all settings set to "Fucking Retard"
