Hi Isaia - well i dont do grocery auto stocker but i do auto stocker for variety ( general Merchindice) but basicly the same thing , basicly for a quick win ( non local ) report , go through dept scan holes in dept , with lines that have a zero soh on the gun , put a temp unavaliable slip covering the ticket , with lines that have a positive soh eg 10 mark as N on the gun , then go back and try to locate the stock and put on the shelf , for negative stock report , print the report in store order management , go through check lines and update stock count , dont know about capping fill reports , i only usually do one when required , ie when asked to by manager , but to add someting to report press C on gun , random reviews are not part of daily autostocker routine , but to add something to random review press R , print and check soh , routine isnt hard but some stores want autostocker done 3 times per day 3 actioned quick wins and 3 actioned negatives. Agaian how store does the routine is always different and depends on store size and what dept you are in also depends on number of staff doing autostocker , in longlife we have 2 full time autostockers , so there is time for them to do capping fills and random reviews every day or every 2nd , hope this helps

(for the record, I decided to post this in both the Coles thread and here).

My sister works at a Coles about fifteen minutes away, and her manager offered me a job (filled in the paperwork today). Now I'm thinking of taking it, as I currently work at Woolworths Deli (which isn't really bad, but I'd prefer checkout) and my sister's manager is offering me a checkout job.

Now the problem is, I'm not sure what to do;

I can take the Coles job (which is further away then my current Woolworths store where I work at deli) and thus working at an area I'd more prefer over Deli.

I can ask my manager of Woolworths to move to Cashiers and see how it goes.

I can not take the Coles job, and stick to Deli.

I'm not sure how much Coles pay rates are for a fifteen year old casual, so I'm not sure if that may be a factor (if Woolworths rates are substantially higher for example, I'd stay here).

Anyone care to help me with this? I know working at both is impossible (whether it be having two jobs as a student or working at two competitors, which I'm sure is illegal in some ways).

Over the past few weeks I have been getting trained as a Service Supervisor but I am a bit scared about doing it because my training has been extremely crap/vague. They have shown me how to transfer money from broken gift cards, do tender swaps, spot tills, do refunds, the process for opens and shown me about the 'service file'. My CSM said I am pretty much trained now.

However, I always see supervisors doing stuff on the computer, using other functions in the supervisor menu and hiring out cleaning equipment and multiple other things that I can't think off the top of my head. I have not been taught any of this and I fear I may get owned on my first supervision shift. I asked my CSM if I would need to use the computer and she just goes "you probably will" and then didn't show me anything. Wtf...argh lol
Haha, you sound just like me when I was training.

There isn't really a set procedure for training Supervisors, unfortunately. What your CSM has shown you is basic procedure. But there is definitely issues with the training.

My first supervision shift I had an operator manage to screw up loading cash onto a gift card. I wasn't able to help her because I was also supposed to be serving in smokeshop. I still don't know how to correct the issue with the gift card, but I never put myself in the position where I am also the one serving in smokeshop.

I don't have any office access whatsoever. I do know my CSM's password, and if its nearly about to expire we will change it, then change it back again. In office, I typically would use it to force sign off registers off a register, or to write service reports up. Another program you might use is stock management, which I dump stolen/damaged stock with.

Mobile phones also have to be registered on the computer. This is instead of filling out the old AMTA form.

Everything else, I'm afraid, is store specific. The best way to get experience is to just put yourself out there. Every mistake you make is a way to learn some more. And definitely keep bugging your CSM. Its the only way I learnt stuff.

wow that's better than my training! I was an office cashier first so I had numbers then one day the CSM goes "wanna do service this Friday" I said yes going in knowing how torefunds from watching other supervisors and that's it so I rocked up at 4 30 sheleft and I was on my own, that was a crap night, butthats how u learn

Its not illegal at all - Woolworths just makes sure you fill out the conflict of interest forms etc...

you can have 2 jobs - I did for the first 1.5 years of my degree...then I went overseas and when I came back I just didnt want to restart my job at woolies so I didnt...but in no way (as far as i know because there was someone at my woolies that worked at the franklins in the same shopping centre) is it illegal to work 2 jobs at competitors....

you've gotten more training than most people

a lot of people's supervision training is just: spotchecks and refunds

britex is easy, just read the book

computer u would probably only need to force sign off a register

Also, how do you handle people that always ask to do stock or find some way to escape the register?

Started in liquor, but had always been interested in cash office, but my manager wouldnt release me.

then when WoWPoS came in i got trained in supervision, started working a bit on front end. then FINALLY became the like, 3rd backup office cashier. when office 2IC left for a bigger store, i moved up, OC went on holidays so i did the relief. then got asked to fill in for CSM early this year for 4 weeks. now CSM is leaving, and i'm the only person trained, so i got it by default :p
