Poetry shouldn't be about some fleeting crush not having interest in you because that's fucking childish. Poetry is supposed to be much purer, much more elegant than that. It's supposed to express a critical evaluation of personal experiences or historical occurrences, create a world in which a greater meaning can be drawn from it or perhaps inspire hope, irreverence, motivation or dissatisfaction with the current perceptions and preconceptions that society has.

Poetry is about enlightenment and skillful manipulation of language to illustrate deeper meaning, not about crying over some fucking girl you've known for two weeks and never managed to talk to her because you lack the testicular fortitude.
