lol shit.

But like, I dunno. You didn't include all the cunts that dropped out (I have no idea how it works)

I just did:

9995 - 9875 = 120 (increments of 0.05)

120 * 49.5 = 5,940

Also, apparently the percentile for my ATAR (UAC table) was equivalent of what I wanted last year.
Just my luck.
You'd have to divide 120 by 5 though, since there are 120 increments of 0.01, but you want 0.05.

So 24 * 49.5 = 1188.

I probably seem extremely naive for asking this question but here goes..Most people on this forum are generally aiming for atars >90 or around that. Why is it that i never ever see anyone receive an atar ~30/40 mark? Family friends of mine recently completed the hsc and got an atar of 52, even though he is quite literally one of the most unintelligent, lazy people i've ever met... i initially thought your atar was a "rank" which scaled you from 1-100 (1 being poor, 100 being incredible), however NO ONE ever seems to get atars <40ish? ideally, someone answering this question would fully explain the system but any help would be appreciated.. just pure curiousity really.ta
This forum usually attracts brighter students. People who get shit ATARs like 50 probably don't care about their education and are very unlikely to come to a website like this one and you probably don't really hear of anyone getting less than 40 because they did really shit and wouldn't be flouting that fact around.

I'd say that 95% of people that on BOS are capable and care about their education. The vast majority will score at least 70 and probably a big portion will be 90+.

yeah, I woke up this morning, read my post and was like "lol, divide by 5"

I'm so bad at maffs.

yeah, I only know that a few of my friends got <50 because they know I know about uni entrance, my mum is in the higher tiers of TAFE teaching and shit and they wanted me to check out what they could do, whether they had the worst mark I'd seen and whether they should just try for a job and stuff.

But whenever someone asked them they'd lie about what they got. (Because there is no way someone can find out your ATAR without your permission (a few people at my school lied about theirs)).
