So Good Game did a review of the mod a week or so ago and it looks fucking epic. Here's a link if you've never heard of it:

The DayZ servers have more or less turned to shit. The cities are full of nothing but dead player bodies because people have started to take to it like a standard FPS. The survival aspect has turned into: "That guy has beans! GET HIM!", "WHAT?! BEANS?! I'm gonna get me some BEANS!!!" - People don't understand the concept of teamwork or survival, all they seem to do is gun down other players.

The odd server can be okay.

Also, ArmA 3 is out in Q4 (DayZ is a mod for ArmA 2) and a new DayZ installment should follow shortly. ArmA 2 is currently $30 Steam Only (no in-store copies [Bohemia Interactive discontinued physical copies]).

Recommend if you get this game, check out the ArmA 2 standard gameplay as well as it is simply awesome.

This game is very CPU intensive, not just GPU as the AI is controlled directly by the PC. Make sure you have a decent processor.

I did play and I agree, it was terrible. Was a shame to see the original name dragged through the dirt. Codemasters shouldn't have tried, it was never their game.

ofp/arma were made my bohemia interactive

codemasters had rights to the ofp name so used it in dragon rising (completely different from BI games)
