Could someone explain to me the importance of 2 strings being taut and if they're not taut. thanks just need a general understand.
taut just means there's tension in both strings. They're not necessarily equal though.Does taut mean the tension in both strings are equal? and if they're not taut forces are not equal?
Not necessarily, but generally, if it's one light, inextensible string, and it's about a point which is also light, and frictionless, then it is most likely equal in tension. However, it will depend on the question.Does taut mean the tension in both strings are equal? and if they're not taut forces are not equal?
