Woah your trials are so soon! Most schools start Trials in Term 3. Anyway, don't stress too much, just buckle down and get your notes done! If you just concentrate and really put your effort into it everything will be fine :) I'm sure most people go through the same feeling of panic, so don't worry, just start finishing your notes now :)

If you don't feel like notes are necessary, go straight to past papers! Sure notes are useful and can be a good revision tool to write however unless you actually use them appropriately/regularly then don't write them.

If you feel like you're going to use your notes (consistently and not just to cram) then finish them asap!
However if not, then go straight to past papers! Do as many as possible!
If you don't know how to do it, do it open book, mark it, then do it again by yourself

Don't write notes for absolutely everything, only areas which you feel least confident about. Good luck ! :D

Looking back, if I would have studied for the half yearlies, I would have gotten excellent ranks as oppose to good ranks.

Make the most of your time, do not overwhelm yourself. Start constructing essays, cut the discourse and get straight to the point.
