Yeah this. Not sure how an integration question with a given substitution can really separate those studied vs those who haven’t?
They tried this in 2014 and it kinda came to bite them back.

If they "force" you to use a certain method they must provide enough details for you to discern what the method is, and then it becomes easier (e.g they cannot say using complex numbers integrate etc)Complex substitution man like being forced to solve integral of sin^5(x) via separating into terms of e^ipi. I’ve seen it maybe 3 or 4 times in trials and miscellaneous questions so it’s fairly rare.
Unlikely going to happen because the syllabus only covers integration over real numbers. You start to run into rigour issues (e.g. how do you account for the fact that ordering does not exist for complex numbers like it does for real numbers?) that need to be established first when integrating over the complex number system, which makes it outside the scope of the syllabus and reserved for university courses in complex analysis.Complex substitution man like being forced to solve integral of sin^5(x) via separating into terms of e^ipi. That block one in the sample paper i was sure my solution was wrong but it was right hahaI'm predicting we'll have one of those miscellaneous induction ones where its straight logic
Yeah I was working it out and it seemed so wrong lol but I guess thats why its a miscellaneous type question since its more logical rather than methodicalThat block one in the sample paper i was sure my solution was wrong but it was right haha
it just seemed so informal haha
I mean thinking back on it, it makes perfect logical sense.Yeah I was working it out and it seemed so wrong lol but I guess thats why its a miscellaneous type question since its more logical rather than methodical
Yeah, I know. Just would be interesting to see them throw it at us.If they "force" you to use a certain method they must provide enough details for you to discern what the method is, and then it becomes easier (e.g they cannot say using complex numbers integrate etc)
I have a bunch of smarter math papers from past hsc exams that I'm planning to complete a second time.how you guys gonna prepare for the last day of prep tomorrow? I've done most trial papers do idk what to do anymore lol
do u wanna share these papers pleaseeeeeeeeI have a bunch of smarter math papers from past hsc exams that I'm planning to complete a second time.
i agreeeeedo u wanna share these papers pleaseeeeeeee
Tomorrow will just be looking over syllabus and NESA sample paper one last time. Wanna keep loose day before examhow you guys gonna prepare for the last day of prep tomorrow? I've done most trial papers do idk what to do anymore lol
I don't have a digital copy :cdo u wanna share these papers pleaseeeeeeee
We got this guys!morning of the exam and i am not feeling good about this one lol
Hope not wouldn’t be surprised though. Good luck lads!Q16 will be on vectors
There was a huge influx of vector question being asked yesterday on discord. If theres anything English has taught me for the past 6 years, its foreshadow.Hope not wouldn’t be surprised though. Good luck lads!
