Most years around a 97 is the minimum required for a state rank, but this may not guarantee one as there sometimes where people get the same mark but the state rank is only given to some of them. So to guarantee one it's probably more like 98what hsc marks should I be aiming for if I want to state rank in bio (and maybe chem)?
In HSC this doesn’t always happen, I know from experience as I got a 97 in Adv English and missed out on state rank, even though I saw someone later who had the 97 mark and they got a 14th in state. Other factors go into it described here; https://educationstandards.nsw.edu....tificates/merit-lists/top-achievers-in-coursewait if they get the same mark, shouldn't they get the same rank?
97 was first in state in 2019, 96 state rankIn bio last year. Over a 1000 people got 90%+, band 6
So you want to be getting over 97 for a chance at state rank
No, they then do tie breaking using decimals, or if they are the same to 2dp, they use other indicators, such as the overall quality of the answers, and even handwritingwait if they get the same mark, shouldn't they get the same rank?
My school got a lot of the state ranks so we all knew each other and our markshaha i was spot on for 2019. How do you check what the top mark was?
Hahah no, I messed up one assessment so I wasn't ranked first internally (which is typically required for state ranks).you got 99 in your hsc chemistry. so did u come first in the state for that?
lol yeh pretty sure my state rank came from handwriting tooNo, they then do tie breaking using decimals, or if they are the same to 2dp, they use other indicators, such as the overall quality of the answers, and even handwriting
what did u state rank in?lol yeh pretty sure my state rank came from handwriting too
mx2what did u state rank in?
oh damn nice nice, 1st?
no. not gonna reveal more bc doxxing but generally 1st needs to have 100% rawoh damn nice nice, 1st?
I don't believe this is the case. What typically happens is that students who place first in a particular subject are invited to attend a ceremony where they receive a certificate that recognises their achievement. Otherwise, there are no financial benefits to achieving a state rank, irrespective of whether a student places first in one (or more) subjects, or whether they achieve a state rank altogether. If students were to be awarded a particular amount of money for achieving a state rank(s), NESA would have been clear in this regard and would have likely provided further detail in terms of such prizes on their website.Mr.GreyCells said:If you get a state rank then do you get a prize money?
Short answer, noMr.GreyCells said:If you get a state rank then do you get a prize money?
no u dont. if you come first in the state however, you get a nice certificate and a phone call from either the premier, the head of nesa or the education minister.Mr.GreyCells said:If you get a state rank then do you get a prize money?
Can you please explain, when 2 people get same marks on what basis NESA choose who should be given state rank? Say 2 people get 97 in HSC Biology and it is a state rank equivalent scores, and only one gets state rank, on what basis this decision would be taken? Most years around a 97 is the minimum required for a state rank, but this may not guarantee one as there sometimes where people get the same mark but the state rank is only given to some of them.
