There is no association between transferring and applying for a scholarship. Usually summer research projects/scholarships are available for second and third year students only.

I did relatively shit through my first 2 years. It wasn't until my 3rd year that I cracked the 90+ average. :( Edit: I'm sure you're going to do very well based on your UAI. :p

Generally you are at uni attending lectures, tut and lab for about 24 hrs a week. So at home, you should do the equivalent amount of time of studying, excluding time spent on doing assignments (probably will get you a HD average). For Honours, it is entirely self-directed learning plus lab...

How far can course cutoffs fluctuate/?

Hi everyone. Don't get too stressed. You will find out the cut-offs in a few days! **Note** Usually, the "cut-off" is the UAI achieved by the last person who was given an offer into the course for each round. For example, if I got a UAI of 95.70, and I was the last person who's got an offer...

BSc, major & minor in Psych

Emma, please don't stress! It's not worth stressing over, save the stressing when the uni exams come. I'm being serious. :p What everyone are trying to tell you is B Psyc = B Sc (Psyc) There is 0.1% Difference!! In either case you will STILL have to do non-psyc subjects. In both case...

Hons students probably get more pay than non-Hons students because you are more experienced, hence more pay. :)

Generous scaling? I don't think it exists in the School of BABS. :(

Yep. Summer scholarships are the best option to try and experience what research is really like. I did two and liked both. You also learn about how a lab works. :)

B MedSci or BSci, also post grad??Q's??

No you don't get paid. It's just an additional year of work so you can graduate with "Honours" instead of a Pass degree. Normally the classes of Honours are determined by your final marks (First class = 85+, Second Class I = 75+ etc) How many hours you work in the lab is entirely up to you...

B MedSci or BSci, also post grad??Q's??

With a B MedSc you can find non-research related jobs in the hospital, doing diagnostics tests, specimens processing, lab testing etc. The Honours year is research.

    BSc(Advanced)/Mbbs Majoring in Neuroscience

Well, it depends what subjects you do really. You could do the same subjects in your Adv Science degree as the Medical science degree.

    BSc(Advanced)/Mbbs Majoring in Neuroscience

The final exam is always the hardest. You have 13-14 weeks of materials to learn and times that by 4 (usually 4 different subjects). So expect to cram a lot! Final exams are usually worth 50%.

A HD average is 85+ I think the number of hrs increase as the years go by. First year is not too bad (probably don't need 24-25 hrs a week of studying). Each uni uses different textbooks so I can't say. Each subject has its own textbook. Some have no textbook.

    BSc(Advanced)/Mbbs Majoring in Neuroscience

There are around 24-25 hrs a week for med science. And for studying, if you are aiming for a HD average, you probably need to spend the equivalent amount of time studying at home (24-25hr a week), excluding time spent on doing assessments. I am majoring in Medical micro and immuno so I learn...

BSc, major & minor in Psych

I hate to say this, but it's completely wrong. Both B Psyc and B Sc (major Psyc) will result in the same specialisation and there is virtually NO difference between the two, except in B Psy, thereis 1 Psyc subject limited only to B Psy students. Other than that, you will graduate both with a...
