    transfer from medical science

To become a pathologist, you need MBBS, not a science degree. Obviously in a single degree you do 144 units of med science subjects, compared with only 96 units in your combined degree. So people with a single degree would generally know more about the field than people in a comhined degree.

    Microbio

It's not a re-run of high school genetics - trust me. :p *coughs* I didn't really understand half of the stuff that were taught There aren't that many people majoring in genetics - probably because most people got turned off by 2021/2621. I've never done physiology before so I can't...

The players are average this year. I would have thought Federer and Hingis might represent Switzerland this year at the Hopman Cup :(

    Stem Cells-What Major??

Basically the way you grow stem cells is extremely complex. Stem cell cannot grow "alone" and must have a monolayer of cells, usually fibroblasts, underneath them. Secondly they grow extremely slow. It takes 7 days to see a colony of stem cell. Next, you have to keep stem cells...

BSc, major & minor in Psych

I think they meant 18 UOC in total can be common. But only 6 UOC of that 18 UOC can be at Level III. That is, either have all 18 OUC common in Level II or 12 UOC in Level II and 6 UOC in Level III. So if you do Microbial Genetics, it can only be counted as one of your major, not both.

BSc, major & minor in Psych

What rule 11 meant was that if there are subjects that can be counted towards both of your major, then only 18 uoc of these subjects can be counted for both major, and only 6 uoc of that 18 uoc can be a level 3 subject. e.g. BIOC2101, BIOC2201, MICR2011 can all be counted towards your two...

UTS B Sci or UNSW B MedSci???

Please don't get too stressed about all the different choices. Transfer from BSc to B MedSc is not hard at all. Enjoy the rest of your holiday because next year will be a lot of hard work. I'll be involved in the Peer Mentor Program for Medical Science next year, to help out first year...

    Stem Cells-What Major??

There's no such thing as a stem cell major - it's too specific to be a major. It's more of a research area. You can do Honours in Stem Cells. Those students will most likely to have a major in Molecular Biology or Biochemistry. Edit: I did a research project on stem cell last year, and...

UTS B Sci or UNSW B MedSci???

You probably will get credit for the chemistry subjects, the statitics one, and the cells, genetics one. There is no similar subject to Anatomy, evolutionary and functional biology from that list. I'm not sure what the two "Medical Sciences" subjects are and whether they can replace...

UTS B Sci or UNSW B MedSci???

For UTS subjects that UNSW considered to be equivalent in the subjects of its MedSc program, then you can transfer those credit to your UNSW MedSc course. If you did subjects in the UTS MedSc program are are not considered to be eqivalent to the UNSW MedSc course, then you won't get the credit...

    Focus Question: Biology

I think any animals that live in the rock platforms or estuarine environments will be fine, e.g. barnacles, provided you can find sufficient information to answer the question.

    BSc(advanced) @ UNSW or BSc @ USYD

Yep I understand what you mean. I think you should go for B Sc at USyd just because you like the campus and you will probably feel mroe comfortable in that environment. As to the Advanced bits, I wouldn't worry about it. You are aiming for Hons in your degree (preferably first class since you...

BSc, major & minor in Psych

Trust me... no supervisor would want to take a student whose average is in the 50s. The students they teach and the marks that the students get reflect how good they are as a supervisor. If you have an average of 75 and you are hoping to get accepted under the same supervisor as the guy who...

Ext 2 maths - units question

I think the latter option may be better. In the latter case, you will excel in all 3 units of your study, whereas in the former case, you will only excel in 2 units of your study.

    question about examination marks

The raw marks that you obtained from the HSC Examination (i.e. the actual marks that you get) will never be reported to you. The raw marks will undergo a process called "Aligning". This will result in the "Exam Marks" that will be reported to you. The reason they do this is to account for the...
