    BMedSc question

No not really. You choose your specialisation at later years in B MedSc anyway. It's just that you have more options of where you want to go - e.g immunology or microbiology? pathology or biochemistry etc.. I knew when I get into B MedSc I would get into a research career so I'm really happy...

Sources of DNA (help with questions!)

hmm, I'm not really a biochemist. But the use of mitochondrial DNA is useful to study maternal heredity, as all our mitochondria (and hence the genetic materials) came from our mother. Ribosomal genes are derived from both of our parents. - Ribosomes are found in all forms of life, from...

    Optometry

Hi Spon888, it is difficult to answer your first question because the university doesn't release such information under normal circumstances. I agree, B Ad Science majoring is Psychology is almost the same as doing a B Psyc. If you are already in Adv Sci, just stay there and major in Psyc. When you transfer they wipe out your academic records and set your WAM back to 0.

For 1, you can suggest that molecular techniques have allowed us to look at nucleic acid sequences, and therefore, deducing evolutionary relationships. For 2, you can talk about either extermal fertilisation (many amphibians) or internal fertilisation (most mammals).

help--? why use potato in osmosis experiment

Actually, sugar is a collective term for carbohydrates. So starch, really, is a sugar. Sugars can be large or small. They don't have to be smaller than starch, which is a type of sugar.

    Would this be true?

Yes, but genes are also DNA. A chromosome is just a massive collection of genes (plus some proteins). A gene IS just DNA, so you don't have to say it containing DNA. :)
