You're an outlier... Similar to drifting97. General mathematics will scale down no matter what score you get. In saying so, the typical "you can attain a 99.95 atar with any subject choice" is therefore obviously not true since even if you topped all your subjects, it'll limit you to a 96-98...

Since you've said yourself your school varies in rankings and due to last year being 180 while this year being in the 250s range, it would be extremely difficult to estimate your atar this early in without your half yearlies but being first in most subjects and top 3 in others would definitely...

deciding on whether to drop to 2u or pick up 4u since my extension 1 maths class is absolutely rubbish, the teacher cant teach and my class pretty much bludge... what makes it worse? hes my 2u teacher as well.. but I need 3u if I want to do engineering in the future, oh decisions decisions :(

Isnt it only half yearlies and yearlies count towards your report? Im sure surprise tests are only to monitor/ give you a vague idea where you are in the course..
