Some bacteria have natural genetic variation, through which they are resistant to the many antibiotics they are exposed to. As a result of natural selection, they pass on these favourable resistant characteristics to their offspring, thus producing a largely resistant strain. The overuse of...

    Chemistry HSC Course?

I personally really enjoyed the HSC Chem course. It's soooo much better than the prelim course. And my marks improved greatly, since I loved the hsc course that much more. It's more real stuff... its not the theoretical bullshit as much as u get in prelim. Just work hard and you'll enjoy it.

Well, simply.. you cant ensure your data is valid unless you have quantitative evidence. Therefore, by extrapolating.. you are only extending the trend of the graph, which would be invalid, as there would be no quantitative evidence to support your conclusion based on that extrapolation.

-An enzyme (helicase) unzips the DNA double strand, at the location where the gene coding for the protein is located. -RNA polymerase joins complementary RNA nucleotides together, forming a messenger RNA strand. -mRNA then travels outside of the nucleus into the cytoplasm, where it then...

Louis Pasteur contributed the germ theory of disease - that microorganisms such as bacteria are the cause of disease. This was proved through his experiment using flasks containing beef broth. When exposed to air, decay was observed since the mixture was exposed to airborne microorganisms. This...

Gamete formation through the process of meiosis, results in a haploid number of chromosomes (23). As a result of random segregation and independent assortment of genes, and crossing over of chromosomes, gametes observe unique genetic variability. Sexual reproduction involves the random fusion of...

well basically haemoglobin increases the amount of oxygen that can be carried in blood. otherwise, oxygen has a solubility of 9mg/L in water at room temperature, hence solubility in blood plasma would be even less, since solubility of oxygen decreases with increasing temp.

that's adding to the information given above. by become saturated easily, organisms can survive at high altitudes where there is low oxygen concentration. hence even small amounts of haemoglobin can provide sufficient oxygen for metabolic processes.

The shape of the haemoglobin molecule changes slightly each time it binds with the oxygen molecules. The attachment of the first molecule makes it easier for the second, third and fourth molecule of oxygen to attach. Haemoglobin therefore becomes saturated easily. Next Question: Identify the...
