Well, say I am in yr 12 and want to drop a subject. I am doing moderately good in PD/H/PE with 80% I am doing moderately good in Math with 80% I like both subject equally. This is when scaling comes to play. But besides that it probably have no affect on you.

Seem pretty wierd to me anyway. Your percentile won't be affected, scaling don't seem to serve any purpose apart from aesthetic.

Really? That's news to me then. I know internal get moderated because every school does different assessments. But why would HSC mark be moderated? The UAC would just look at your percentile.

External marks do not get moderated. So there is no such thing as "raw external mark".

I am unsure if you can actually go from standard to advanced. In my school the tendency is to remove/kick/downgrade/reallocate (sorry, I dunno the politically correct term) as many people to standard as possible.

Raw internal mark? I don't think anyone knows.

Rather, the difficulty of the school assessments.

85 uai may be difficult to be honest, but do what you can between now and HSC, with bit of luck you might make it. I heard UTS offers bonus scheme for getting good band (4,5,6) if you are doing HSC subjects related to your desired course, so that may help you a bit.

What you aiming for? Course + UAI.

I am inclined to think your teachers (English in particular) are easy markers...or your cohort is unusually talented. 80s is likely, focus on English and others and you will do better.

In the late 80s or early 90s I guess. Software and Senior Science isn't the best choice and unfortunately you only have 10 units. So far how is your mark going, in the band 5 and 6?

SMH recently reported how university "artificially inflates" their UAI cut-offs to make their university seemingly more "prestigious". Maybe the media are just playing things up, maybe not.
