    Of course it's not okay to make stuff up. Seriously. Just go learn some real ones. It's not that hard.

    Probably a parent collecting the certificate on behalf of their child. There isn't much notice given to 1st placed students, so there's usually a few parents at the ceremony in place of students who couldnt make it.

    This is completely inaccurate. You can still apply for illness/misadventure if you sit the exam. In fact they recommend you do sit it if at all possible.
