    Prestige of Uni

    The way my y11 math teacher put it: "If you graduate law from UWS, what does it make you? - A lawyer." "If you graduate law from USYD, what does it make you? - A lawyer." "If you graduate law from Harvard, what does it make you? - A lawyer."

    enrolling S1+S2

    Hmm, last year I am pretty sure I only enrolled for S1, and still got the consession 'stamp' on my student card. Unless it is different now... Maybe I'll enroll S2 just to be on the safe side then. EDIT: Come to think of it, perhaps I *did* enroll S2 at the beginning of last yr. I can't really...

    enrolling S1+S2

    Thats what I thought/did too. Why are all these people saying we *have* to enroll for S2 *now*?

    PHYS1601 Comp. Applic'ns in Exp. Sci

    Well, IMO if you want to do an interesting course, try PHYS1601 - it will definately be more interesting than discrete math (especially if you've already done it before). Basically, it is quite a general course - it covers many of the low-level concepts about how 'computers' work (not just...

    Timetabling - Any tips?

    Hmm, weird - MATH2400 clashes with itself: Lecture Mon 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm (Odd weeks) Mon 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm (Weekly) Tutorial Mon 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm (Weekly) Does anybody know what's going on with that?

    enrolling in math1131 after having done math1011

    I took math1141 in session1, but didn't get a credit (but a pass). This meant I could not do math1241 in session2. I found out my degree requires me to do higher math, so I was hoping to re-take it in 06. I just tried enrolling, and it did allow me to enroll in math1141. Is this a 'bug', or...

    VB Help

    If you are talking about VB6, then you probably won't have too much luck. The most you'll be able to recover will be function/module names and control properties, but not much more. You may have a bit more luck though if you compiled to p-code, although I'm thinking thats unlikely. If you are...

    About Text Editors for C

    I have to press esc to get into command mode before they move around - otherwise I just get a lot of h , j, k and l's etc in my file, right? or is there a better way?

    About Text Editors for C

    Emacs does as well, and it has *much* more features. Only good thing about kwrite/kate is that its quite pretty :) I tried using VI, but it is just so damn annoying having to move my fingers to esc or the arrow keys every time I want to move around, or save. Emacs is just so much better like...

    General Education (Gen Ed) FAQ

    Cool! Can we do level 0 courses, e.g. GENT0804, or does it have to be a level 1 course?

    HELP !!wot happens if u Fail!!

    Hm, ok looks like I'm going to have to talk to them myself. lol, sorry - I meant "providing I work hard and don't fail any subjects in the next two sessions ...".

    HELP !!wot happens if u Fail!!

    Well I would have to contact them anyway, since I'm not currently in the 'Computer Science' degree, so when i say "myUNSW says", i just mean the handbook, and I actually can't enroll 27uoc myself currenlty. BUT, by "filling in forms", that doesn't mean I am overloading, does it? Because I am...

    HELP !!wot happens if u Fail!!

    Ah, no - I don't want to "split a 6unit course in two", but rather, instead of repeating the 6uoc course I failed, could I instead do two 3uoc courses (e.g. phys1000 and something else). i.e. could i do something like: phys1000 + 24uoc this semester, and [another 3uoc course] + 24uoc s1 next...

    HELP !!wot happens if u Fail!!

    Hmm, I failed a subject last session, and up till now I have been planning to just make it up by doing a subject in summer session. BUT, now it looks like i'm going to be transfferring to straight 'Computer Science', and I looked at the degree in the handbook, and it says " Max UOC Per...

    Credit average over a semester or year?

    Oh cool, cause I really stuffed up last session, but i have learnt my lesson, but from what u've said, it seems i can recover if i try harder from now on. EDIT: Sh*t, i just found out that i didn't meet the pre-req for math1241, looks like i'm going to have to transfer anyway... :(

    Fail = Permanently on record???

    So, the sheet of paper that the employer reads has all the subjects u did, whether they counted towards ur degree or not...? The reason I wanted to do it that way though, was so that I could do comp1721 instead of 1021 (1721 is only offered s2), since i am much more interested in comp than...

    Credit average over a semester or year?

    For Advanced Science, it says: What exactly does that mean? My major area is math+comp sci, so does that mean I have to get 65+ for all my non-elective subjects, 65+ for *all* subjects being counted for my degree, or does the *average* of all my non-elective courses together have to be over 65?

    Fail = Permanently on record???

    Hmm, I failed elec1011, and was planning on repeating it this session, and doing math 1B in summer session (instead of s2). BUT, elec was just an elective for me, so would it be a better idea for me to do a different subject this session? i.e. would doing a different elective this time let me...
