Help!!! confused about my career possibilities

You can be a lab assistant without a medical degree (and by proxy, possibly a pathology assistant?). You need a medical degree to become a straight pathologist; the quickest way to becoming a pathology registrar (pathologist in training) is as you described. What exactly would you want to do in...

    Medicine is shit!!!

Agree with Bearman. Internship is usually the most difficult, as all doctors need to go through the same rotations (which they might dislike), there is a lot of new responsibility, the working hospital environment takes time to get used to, and they have to get used to thinking about medicine in...

    Specialisation

ED training is not hard to enter, but is harder to complete. You should look up the ACEM website for prerequisites and training.

    Medicine is shit!!!

You need a lot of hunger and ambition to do neurosurgery. The surgical training program relies on connections as much as it does your know-how. Working in medicine is definitely about yourself. The medical profession has higher rates of suicide (beaten by dentistry!) than the average population...

    Diabetes and medicine?

Shouldn't really affect entry into Medicine, though I'm sure that you could use your experiences with diabetes during your interviews (if the course requires you to do interviews). As far as I know, you wouldn't have to disclose your condition to the faculty anyways.

    Med/Law

They teach aspects of law in the MBBS course at Monash (it's part of their Theme 1 content). Those aspects are, of course, relevant to the practice of medicine. At the beginning of this year, three students in my year level got into Med/Law--at least two dropped out in the space of a couple of...

Published UAI cut-offs: CSP or fee-paying?

I don't think ANU even offer DFees.

    Information on Accommodation

Well if you're looking for an alternative, I cancelled my place at John XXIII College several days ago. They might have a spot open, so if you're desperate you could try and nab my spot there. ;)

    some trivial questions

Eh, well if Ursula lives up to its reputation, there's nothing wrong with being an outcast among outcasts. :P For the fun of it, I planned to rock it to its knees if I got looked over by John (I put Ursies as second pref).

    some trivial questions

Oh yeah, I still owe you Avril Lavigne. :D By the way, is it possible to defer a degree at ANU? What about a residential college placement?

    some trivial questions

Hi michaelll, the reputation is not entirely warranted, although they do say that like attracts like (hence the nerdy ones go to Ursula). I've been told that most colleges/halls are essentially the same. The toga stuff is basically where you wear a toga to a party. And you could have asked me...

    Degree Debate: Arts or Languages?

Personally, I would prefer Arts as it gives you a bit more leeway to choose other subjects if you so wish. But I'm an indecisive person at heart, so I always like to have that extra pathway or extra escape route. Then again, languages aren't really my strong suit. At the moment, it appears that...

    Information on Accommodation

Hmm... well there might be an extra spot at John XXIII, if I choose not to take up my Arts/Laws course at ANU. But not living at a residential college would be a huge disappointment. It was one of the main attractions of going to uni. I expect I shall I have to pay a $100 administration fee if I...

    John's 08

Hi guys, I may be going to John XXIII. :) After the second round offers, I might go to a different uni though. Not sure. Still, residential college life is the biggest thing I'll regret if I don't go to ANU.

    FUTURE STUDENTS of 08

Hey! I went, except I'm not even sure if I'm going to ANU anymore. I was hoping that someone from BoS came. I was going to 'borrow' some more name stickers from the ANU people and write "BoS" on each of them, plastering them all over my T-shirt, but everyone left too quickly for me to bother. In...

    Enrolment Pack

I applied for some ANU scholarships around August (can't quite remember) last year, and I've received my enrolment package. Then again, probably had too low a score to even be considered for a scholarship.

    Recommend a subject!

Oh yeah, I forgot that Unis have a network too. Then again, I've gotten a little bored of Facebook now lol Is Psychology any good at ANU?

What does that mean for guys?

    Majors/Minors

It's different, I think. Psychology isn't listed under the Arts majors. However, I may just do postgraduate psychology instead. I know that at least Monash, Melbourne and Deakin all have Psycholgy offered by both the Arts and Science faculty, yet it is owned by the Medical faculty (in the case...
