But gearing is always tax-deductable, regardless of the investment product. It's just that most ppl don't borrow to invest in other products. As i said before, i know nothing about property, but if property was superior to other products, then market forces would erode the prices and bring it...

Real Estate - Is there something shifty about this?

Nah i really doubt they'd do that. That would be like $40k if interest you're saving. If that were the case, you could take the deal, collect 2 years worth of rent then sell it, incurring only transactions costs.

    Highest Paying Graduates

I don't know much about property investing, but i do know that the risk/reward ratio is the same in all investment products, and hence unless you're Warren Buffett or some super hedge fund manager, my analysis is still correct (aside from the tax, which we could assume to be 30%). That would...

Real Estate - Is there something shifty about this?

What i actually meant was that the fact that you only have to pay $2000 does not benefit you in any way. Say the apartment is worth $200k. After your initial $2000 deposit, and the accumulation after 2 years (till 2008), your debt will have increased from $19800 to about $240k (assuming 10%...

Yeh of course. I disagree, i just did the calculations, and assuming he starts work at 18 (earning 150k/year), saves 50% of his income, the risk-free rate is 6%, and his tax-rate is 48.5%, his annual income after retiring would be about 41k (and these are conservative assumptions).

    Economy vs Over-population

Hahah good old 1st year micro. It doesn't mean we're producing more than we're importing, it means that we're exporting more than we're importing. Why is that bad? There's some talk in this thread about lower unemploment rates being good, but that isn't the case. Low unemployment...

    need ur advice pplz !

No matter how easy mktg101 is, i guarantee you'll be able to get a better mark with less time in ECON141. You'll easily be able to get a HD without going to a class all semester (and without looking at any of the material), and studying only 2 days before the exam. (this is no exagerration)
