    The Woolworths Thread

I prefer to work small shifts like 3-5hrs because it doesn't seem like a waste of a day... even though I usually don't do much assessment work before/after work anyway. I like around 10-12hrs (3 x 4hr shifts) per week while I'm at TAFE. I have 3 days availability at work, 3 days at tafe and 1...

I was told that employees in work uniform basically HAVE to use self serve if only a few items. all about promotion and stuff. ironic because it was only like a week before I was told this, the SM came through express with 1 item.

For us it wouldn't be as we have room to place a small stool under the register and pull it out when needed. There hasn't been many times that I wish I could sit down though so not that concerned, plus I'm looking for another job in my career field - although I can see myself being at Coles for...

I called in sick in March, just one single shift and gave them 5hrs notice - the supervisor said I had to tell a manager and transferred me. After asking me what my shift was, whether I was casual/pt/ft etc, my SSM was like 'are you seeing a doctor' and when I said 'no' he said next time I need...

I don't know about Woolworths checkouts but at Coles there is enough room for a little stool to be stored under the register so they could easily allow us to sit down when we aren't serving. I wouldn't want to sit down while serving - I think that would put strain on my body, but certainly when...

I got 7hrs this week - 4hrs tomorrow (9.45-1.45) and 3hrs on Sunday (3.30-6.30pm). I'm happy with that amount. I had 15hrs last week and all I've done this week is assessments. I always seem to get heaps of hours when I have assessments due, and when I have 'time' to work I get less hours. Does...

Hey everyone, For TAFE I have to put together a 3min audio montage for the theme 'A day in the life of...'. I've chosen to do A day in the Life of a Service Assistant. I've put together a draft version of my script and was wondering if you guys could take a look at it and offer any...

I understand you are annoyed because you only just started and you would expect them to give you shifts to train you up but I assume you are casual so you have to be prepared to get 0 shifts at times. As a casual there are no guarantee for hours. Just try to accept every shift offered, work...

    Rules for Customers

I always state the size of the meal I want but I was under the assumption that Coke was the 'default' so I only say what drink I want if it isn't coke.

All Kmart Team Members got a special 'Team Member Gift Card' like a bonus, although had to be spent at Kmart. My friend who is casual got $292. I wouldn't care if it had to be spent at just Coles within the 12 months. It would keep me feed for quite a while with specials and stuff :)

    The Coles Thread

I had to do an online HR survey today for Coles called 'We are Listening' basically asked heaps of questions and you have to select 'Strongly Agree', 'Agree', 'Unsure', 'Disagree' or 'Strongly Disagree'. My answers were mainly agree/unsure with a few strongly agree's and one disagree. There was...

According to one of my supervisors, when Woolworths announced the change, Coles came out and said they would not be making the same change. I noticed a massive increase in customers selecting 'credit' and signing for it today. Like 3 of my first 4 customers signed for credit.

I would choose the first job because it's more flexible for you, every workplace is going to have people you don't like to work with, its just a fact of life. In regards to hours, you should be able to get away with that given that you are a school student but expect a lot more hours during the...
