Yeah at the moment its pulling you down a bit... Its often your lower scaled subjects that you do poorly in that determine your ATAR (rather than the subjects you like and do well in). These estimates assume you perform inline with your school rank... so if you do much better in the exams...

Beating 88% of people in industrial technology is the same as beating 40% of people in English Adv.... So obviously for a low scaling subject, you have to beat more people to get the same contribution to your ATAR. IT has similar scaling to english standard.

Hard to say... but if you give me your school rank, and where you rank in your subjects I can give you an idea.

To get 97 you need an Aggregate of 422, so 42 scaled mark per unit. The required HSC mark will vary per subject, depending on the scaling.... Its hard to to say how likely 97 is without more info (i.e. your school and school ranks in each of your subjects).
