    Nintendo Switch

I can't believe I bought the NES controllers from Nintendo for Switch Online but it's surprisingly satisfying to play... that, and I enjoy Smash and Pokemon Let's Go too.

    School / Subject

May as well bump an old thread! I don't study anymore. I'm too old but I work, and have a wife and daughter now :)

    Business Studies and Legal Studies

Are you naturally inclined to enjoy either of those subjects? Both are heavy on the reading and rote learning hence it comes down to what you're good at. For me, I struggled with memorising cases/etc and ended up dropping legal studies at the end of year 11... but ironically enough, when I did...

    Plz help me

Talk to your school. That being said I doubt they'll let you switch unless you have some really compelling reason and also have a sufficiently strong academic record that you can overcome the disadvantage from starting so late and having to catch up to everyone else in the class.

Is doing business, eco & legal + bio too much??

What did you do in yr9/10? And are you any good at those subjects? Scaling will only help so much... as will creating multiple topics in quick succession on a student forum.

    Attaching batteries to your pen?

I tried using pen weights but didn't find it helped. Instead the strategy of writing big and wide improved legibility (admittedly wasting paper) but gave me less cramps. Sadly I'm an adult now and I still find my handwriting atrocious and HSC-like.

    Primary, Secondary, and Derivatives market?

And let's not forget the difference between OTC (over the counter) vs exchange traded derivatives. I believe the latter is what "derivatives market" is referring to in this context of HSC Economics (but it should in theory cover everything).

anyone have old excel textbooks they dont use or know where to borrow one?

I don't know if Heinemann is still around but that's what I used and I turned out fine... If I recall correctly, I did glance through Samuel Davis and thought it may be a lot of content but I got more bang for buck from my effort/time by looking at band six responses/model answers to sample and...

    indirect vs end-users

Did you even try to google and/or read the textbook?

    Anyone watched chernobyl?

Bought on iTunes the other day but haven't had chance to watch yet

y10 work exp (any fields, desperate)

I'd say alot of firms are probably a bit more careful nowadays since work exp offers negligible benefits in the short term but is full of risk for them. I did work exp at a big 4 firm back in my time thanks to my neighbour being a partner but I don't think that would happen again in this day and...

    IPT NOTES!!!

Truth be told I don't think that changes the 'chill' piece. Besides if you are that eager to do well in an HSC subject, you probably are better off writing your own notes (and doing the exercises in the book). At least that was my approach back in the day ;)

    Federal Election May 18

Even before the polls, I’ve always thought that the polls are inherently biased in their sample because the sample that they can poll already are part of a certain segment of the population (i.e. those who are willing and able to be polled), and hence they are not representative of the full...

aren't there resources hosted somewhere on BoS?

    Interstellar Thread

I am slowly catching up on Big Bang Theory but I was so amazed that Kip Thorne was in a recent episode!

If I get good marks in IPT does that mean I will be good at IT?

I’ve posted this before but worth reiterating that the skills/thinking which I learnt in IPT have proven to be extremely useful in my line of work - accounting and finance. Working with financial institutions to meet growing regulatory requirements, the huge focus is on data. Having some...

Commerce degree with computer science or math/statistics?

It's not so much about what you learn but what it says about your ability to learn and apply challenging quantitative concepts with ease. Similarly SDD (and CS) is about the logic and thought process vs. the typical fluff (or soft skills) many Commerce grads would typically focus on.

    Which degree should i choose

I'd challenge your understanding of what a "financial stockbroker" does. We are in a post royal commission era where a lot of the traditional roles are quickly being wiped out.
