Attacks on indian students in Melbourne; hindu extremists burn effigies of K. Rudd

Re: Attacks on indian students in Melbourne; hindu extremists burn effigies of K. Rud I would be inclined to agree were it not for the anti-Semitic tirades going on in the anti-Israel league forums. Seriously - I agree, there is a difference. Just not on the BoS forums. Overreaction by the...

    Free Markets and Meritocracy

We are largely responsible for our individual incomes. There is a matter of chance, of course, which can determine your place, whether you are born into a slum in Somalia or into the Pratt family in Australia as one example of chance. It is quite simple though, as far as I'm concerned, if you...

    Swine Virus

That is simply not possible. Hundreds of thousands of people come from USA/Mexico every year, it is not only logistically impossible, it would also be doing our economy and diplomatic reputation no favors. Well, two things with that: Australia can't really afford to do that, it would be...

    Swine Virus

Sorry, I should have made more clear what I was saying. By 'immunizing' I meant, so there's enough time for a vaccine to be created and the population vaccinated. Presumably, once a vaccine is created we will have a greater understanding of how this virus works, and subsequently be able to deal...

    Swine Virus

True, but it would have been nice to delay it more so we'd have more time to immunize the population. If this is like the Spanish Flu, which came in 4 waves, it will not be as devastating. Arguably, we are in the second wave now, and by the time the 4th wave comes, hopefully we will have...

    Swine Virus

Settle. It really isn't that bad right now, it's very mild. You're only at risk if you are in a vulnerable position (i.e. you're seriously ill with something else and contract swine flu).

    Swine Virus

It was a big deal in Asia where it affected people, it just didn't hit Australia, so we forgot it pretty quickly. This shit just got real. A year 10 at my school has just become a confirmed case. He was at school on Thursday with it and I passed him in a corridor briefly, haha. Shite. Everyone...

    Should Australia be a Republic?

Hehe, I'm an old fashioned monarchist. Long live Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second, Her heirs and successors according to law! :D

    Swine Virus

Heh, a few people at my school left early because they were 'sick' and worried about Swine flu. I wonder if catching it now in its earlier, mild form will give you some immunity to it if it becomes worse. Might take a drive down to Epping imo.

    Jews top Australia's rich list

Good on them. Most of them came to Australia after World War 2 with almost nothing and have built themselves empires. Great Australian success stories. They're generous too. The Pratt Foundation gives fuck loads to local charities in Melbourne. My school was fund raising to send a few students...

Sol Trujillo says Australia is a racist backward nation.

Wow. No. Funny coming from an American. Cause they're all wine and roses.

I think some chick in my year level set the original record xD

    Swine Virus

Not yet. At the moment only the affected schools are being shut down. Universities and schools are not going to be shut down until it spreads further.

British mother forced her school-age daughters to marry their cousins is Pakistan

Citation for those statistics? You're right though, the majority of the muslim community would disagree with this. There is a small minority of the muslim population, however, which is growing in Britain within that muslim community (I cite the increasing occurrence of these crimes as evidence)...

Ex-US troop gets life for rape, murders

When being executed by a fire squad, a deflector is placed over the heart so the squad can aim at it. Only one of the squads guns is armed with live ammunition, so there is 1 bullet fired into the heart. It takes around 7 minutes for a person shot by a firing squad to die. Not painful. Yeah.

British mother forced her school-age daughters to marry their cousins is Pakistan

Ok. 1. This is a landmark case. I I I V 2. It sets a legal precedent. Do you know what that means? It means that it will guide how future cases regarding religious legal practices, like those determined by Sharia Law, like this are determined. I I I V 3. This precedent should cover...

British mother forced her school-age daughters to marry their cousins is Pakistan

These cases are interesting because they are setting an important precedent for other cases like this, in a country with a growing number of citizens demanding Sharia Law. Be interesting to see if these precedents continue to be set or if there will be a change in course for the courts over the...
