    Swine Virus

Seems there's more panic over this than there was over the SARS virus, and SARS was much more deadly and more contagious (with many more deaths)... Some of my friends families are actually stocking up on food. Until there is at least a confirmed case of swine flu in Australia and there are...

    A win for fathers?

This is a pretty tragic case. Whilst I do approve of the father's actions in getting his kids back, I can't but feel sorry for the mother. Two visits a year to your kids is the stupidest idea I've ever heard, why visit them at all?! I can almost understand her, poor woman. Could say she was...

    Rudd to build broadband network

No. I'm not quite sure how you've just connected emergency departments and fibre optic internet cables... First, provide a reference that all private hospitals do not have emergency departments, and even if this is true, this was not the level on which the argument was based.

    Rudd to build broadband network

Because the Government fund most schools regardless... 08er, peer to peer did not come about solely because of broadband, it existed beforehand. The Government would have had to have spent $4.3 billion if they had gone with Telstra. They have chosen to build their own network and have so...

    Rudd to build broadband network

... They're not just "laying down the cables," rest assured they will be in control of the web servers around the country which these cables are connected to. I personally don't trust the Government's word to privatize the new broadband system, they may relinquish some power, but having power...

    Rudd to build broadband network

http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,25301680-601,00.html Woohoo! Government owned internet! I can't see a single thing wrong with that! /sarcasm Wait, isn't China's internet also government owned/controlled? Another act of idiocy by Stephen Conroy and Rudd. This ploy will...

    Which Online News source?

Well, I grew up always reading The Age, recently I've started buying The Australian, (I like its format and business section) and the JPOST is the only middle east news service I know of, apart from Aljazeera. I know there is bias in all 3 news services, but I don't really care.

    Project to counter Holocaust denial

It's all fine and dandy for those unaffected by the Holocaust to say "move on already, ffs." I guess in all honesty I would respond in a similar fashion to another tragedy if another group of people kept on bitching about it. But no, it is impossible to move on. Forgetting history is how it is...

    Project to counter Holocaust denial

Don't let it get to you. People are allowed to deny the Holocaust happened if they want. I find a simple way to deal with these people is just to ignore everything they say. Anyone who genuinely believes the Holocaust didn't happen, and there are very few of them, is a complete twat for...

    This is total BS

I thought it was quite clear that you'd completely missed the point of my post. I never said America was an amazing liberating force. I said, using Zimbabwe as an example, that in foresight, these invasions to remove dictators are good ideas, just as invading Zimbabwe is a good idea in...

    This is total BS

This was their choice. They were liberated from Sadaam' grasp; I'm not sure you completely understand the magnitude of this perhaps you should read more into the travesties Sadaam undertook while he was in power? They were given the freedom to go down almost any path they wanted. A few...

    Favourite Character?

I'll +1 that, great character, love the cynicism =D Whenever I read a decent book I become completely absorbed in it, I have as many favourite characters as I have read great books. *nawwwww*

Recycled water for drinking: for or against?

I'll second that. I went to South Africa just over a year ago, no one there drinks the tap water, they all drink spring water or sparkling water. Went to a few restaurants and usually asked for plain tap water - they looked at me like I was crazy. Recycled water doesn't taste as good as what...

    This is total BS

You could get more than 3 years for doing the same thing in Australia, let alone Iraq. Assault + world leader of any country, let alone America is a bad mix.

Muslim War protester abuse Soldiers at Homecoming Parade

Hmmm, wow, surprised the soldiers didn't break ranks and start kicking some ass :P. If I joined the army, did a tour of Afghanistan or someplace else, risking my life to (inadvertently) protect my country, I'd be quite pissed off with that welcoming. Britain is way too politically correct...
