New SMH Article: Changes to English/SOR leaving students vulnerable

My understanding is that scaling is based on the performance of the cohort of any subject on English. For example, chemistry scales well because its candidates do relatively well in English. I know this leaves gaps, but I'm pretty sure that's how it's worked out...

New SMH Article: Changes to English/SOR leaving students vulnerable

You neglect to mention that 1) English must be compulsory to allow scaling to occur and 2) English skills are really essential in Australia, and the analytical skills you learn from English help in almost any profession in training your mind. What do you think you will score out of 60?

Even if his ranks are genuine, which I doubt, that don't mean he's not a troll. Have you seen the things he's posted?

    Do you smoke?

Never; jeez, I can't even stand being around other people who smoke. I'd concede that it looks cool (in all seriousness) but the reality is otherwise

What do you think you will score out of 60?

    low band 5

75/105? In previous years we've seen it's been around 85. That'd be some massive screwing around; I do wonder if by 'screw us over' you meant 'write a question we couldn't be bothered to read properly' though.

    How many pages

    Lol you amuse me.

Is anyone going to miss english?

Yeah I will a bit. As much as the way it was examined was irritating, most of what we did was pretty interesting, the analysis was fun.
