    Labor Leadership Spill 2012

Going on who has declared their support for him, who has remained silent but is linked to him and my belief that there are probably a few rats who will privately but not publicly support Rudd, I reckon he will have 35-39 votes, and yes that is too many, effectively is a no confidence in...

    Labor Leadership Spill 2012

The great irony is that for the last twelve months the shadow cabinet's thought they had it in the bag so long as Abbott didn't say anything.

    Labor Leadership Spill 2012

Hmmm, don't agree with Combet, he's about as engaging as Swanny, and Bowen has plenty of gifts but his performance in immigration was pretty dumb, just escalate the issue instead of diffusing it. Emerson is pretty confident and articulate which is not the norm in the government , he does...

    Labor Leadership Spill 2012

I wonder if he's actually staying out of it or if it's part of a coordinated effort by team Rudd to seem like nice guys. Bowen, McClleland, Ferguson, Champion, Cameron...They've all taken the tune that they support Rudd but will support Gillard to the hilt if she doesn't win on Monday.

    Labor Leadership Spill 2012

His strongest indication thus far is that he's going to relinquish the power to choose the frontbench but if you look at what he's said he thinks he should have done differently: sailed ahead with the ETS, refused to get into the politics of fear with refugees etc, he's indicating he should...

    Labor Leadership Spill 2012

After the polls last night a group of MP's are now saying that they will support Gillard if she stands but that she should reconsider nominating in the face of such overwhelming public rejection.

    Labor Leadership Spill 2012

Simon Crean publicly attacked Rudd's integrity, Gillard refused to defend Rudd against the attacks either publicly or privately, Rudd therefore concluded he didn't have the confidence of the PM and that therefore his position was untenable.

    Labor Leadership Spill 2012

The polls are unequivocal, if Labor returns Gillard on Monday as they seem very much likely to their primary vote is going to absolutely tank next time. Somewhere in the vicinity of falling by five points in one hit I fancy.

    Labor Leadership Spill 2012

I'm sure Nielsen ran a poll two or three months back that said voters would vote Labor 52-48 in a Rudd v Abbott contest.

    Labor Leadership Spill 2012

That's true, (not of Wilkie, he's supporting Rudd) but they still wont support Tony Abbott.

    Labor Leadership Spill 2012

Then you would earnestly acknowledge that there is enormous dissatisfaction for both party leaderships at the moment and the defeat of Julia Gillard in favour of Kevin Rudd or Stephen Smith, or the defeat of Tony Abbott in favour of Joe Hockey, Malcolm Turnbull or Scott Morrison should, if...

    Labor Leadership Spill 2012

She seems to reverting back to the feisty, aggressive deputy leader Julia. Frankly I preferred the cold, aloof Prime Minister one. There is no gravitas in this press conference.

    Labor Leadership Spill 2012

Agreed, Windsor in particular I think is just trying to get some leverage for negotiations if and when Rudd returns.

    Labor Leadership Spill 2012

Brown, Wilkie and Oakeshott have all said they'd rather work with Rudd than Abbott. Windsor hasn't confirmed a position either way.
