yeah agreed. you could do those subjects and just do another one as well, but then you'd have 12 subjects. you could just like completely ignore the other subject though and that way it was like you had 10 subjects ;D

not directly. no content frmo prelim is tested for hsc in itself, but the knowledge you gained might be. going on that though hsc maths is testing things you have learned throughout your maths career, thats the way maths is. but in short answer to your question, no

we have an assessment week in week 8 too. is it really that stange? im not completely suprised, i doubted we would get through the term without being assessed on something haha

its true that those subjects are scaled down but the thing to remember is that if you try and do advanced english and mathematics instead of standard and general, you might end up doing worse if its too hard, than if you did the lesser courses and did well. its all about finding your own level...

also i shoudl add that nothing from the prelim course is repeated in hsc course. its completely different. its a fresh slate. you can go as well as you want to =]

yeah i did shit all in year 11. failed some of my yearlies. now im like doing heaps of work and am near the top of all my classes. its possible for sure

its probably one of those things where they technically can't do it, but just because their the teacher they'll just do it anyway

more in reference to your questions, i think their role should be of support, never trying to commandeer your education. they should let you dictate what you what them to do in the way that you see them being most beneficial, parents who assume ways and think 'ill do this it will help' are...

my parents are taking a relaxed approach which is strange cos they were so tightass last year. this year they basically dont talk to me about it at all and they bring me food when i want it =] perfect system

yeah thats right. my friend did legal and then law and said that most of the year 11 and 12 legal studies was just the first semester of his course. so it didnt give him an advantage

since ive been writing and typing notes as i said before, ive already noticed my handwriting improve. which is good cos its horrible. but yeah, writing them out lots improved my writing. hand gets less sore as well
