I don't just think that, it applies for everything not just law. I did I say that you have to be 100% passionate about it. The people I am talking about have never ever spoken about studying law in their life and never showed any interest, in fact they had a complete different degree chosen out...

Although, its been said many times even at open days at Syd and NSW that people with a UAI in the mid (i think) eighties should be able to cope in an Law Degree. As much as they say that i doubt a transfer would be possible with <90 Uai, for me it would already be three Ds one HD. I hope...

As Frigid said watch out transfering from state to state, do a quick bit of research to see if you can be admitted as a legal practitioner in the state you intend to practice (that is if you do intend to practice). I'd also think it might be easier to study where you want to practice many laws...
