Re: 2013 Australian Federal election
A mate of mine who is an Investment Banker at Macquarie Bank votes for the Australian Greens. He is from a very conservative background. He joined the Young Liberals when he was at University. Now he votes 1) the Australian Greens 2) Australian Labor Party. He said the defining factor why he votes Australian Greens and Labor is because of incompetent Tony Abbott. Tony Abbott opposed the fiscal stimulus in during the Global Financial Crisis. Tony Abbott opposed action on climate change saying that the science of climate change was "absolute crap." Tony Abbott treated the crippled Bernie Banton with disrespect by claiming that he was not "pure of heart." Tony Abbott's number one fan Alan Jones idiotically claimed that Julia Gillard's father "died of shame." Tony Abbott treated the death of an Aussie digger as "shit happens." Tony Abbott claimed that Julia Gillard has a big "target" on herself- inspiring evil people to assassinate the Prime Minister. Tony Abbott stood in front of sexist signs saying "ditch the witch" and "Bob Brown's Bitch." There are fewer females on Tony Abbott's front bench than on Julia Gillard's front bench and the Australian Greens Shadow Cabinet. Mark my words one day the Greens will become a major political player and may even form government. I laugh at those right wing shock jocks who claim that the Greens are socialists. The Greens are a mainstream political party.
I wonder what the direct action policy is? And their embrace of the reduction target? It is very possible that people can change their views, like your Banker friend.
What Abbot said was disrespectful - he should of said behind closed doors. However, just because someone is sick does mean they automatically gain a holy aurora.
My goodness. Clearly you're not educated in politics and merely only wait for the sound bites. There have been a number of incidents where jones and ta have been diametrically opposed in terms of policy, to the point of jones wedging ta on a major policy issue: that was mining on farmland, royalties.
I remember when this all came out. It still angers me that that stupid cretin of a journo mark riley would infer the leader of the op would be incentive to the death of a solider, and the war its self. Abbots comment may have been distasteful to some, but for people with military backgrounds (me, for example) then this language is in context and is appropriate, just even when talking about a death. The soldiers on the front are not so delicate as the puffery that the politicians spout out. Vietnam, case in point. Also, after Abbott said that, the ranking officer agreed with him and said words to this effect 'you're right'.
I'll leave that 'evil target' comment there. I think people can deduce what type of person you are.
Yes, Abbott miscalculated there. A stupid, disrespectful mistake.
That gets thrown around alot. It has no basis in an argument, especially if you are inferring that Abbott is sexist. Also the Greens do not have a shadow cabinet.
Just as you laugh at the shock jocks, I laugh at you for providing this forum with perhaps some of the most unintelligent diatribe I have ever had the misfortune to lay eyes on.
