Hi I'm new! :)
I'm looking for advice on how to deal with overly competitive classmates during the trial period, like the whole hoarding resources thing and having secret private tutoring is something I find incredibly frustrating when people keep bringing it up and I want to focus on my exams and it keeps making me doubt myself as well as just being a distraction. So does anyone know what I should say or how I should deal with this?
Anyway hello to everyone on this forum again and good luck during your trial exams!

Lol don't let others acting like fags affect you, just do your best, also, you don't need to say anything at all, no one's forcing you to.

* you are not entitled to what other people have. like if you don't know some of these people well/only know them because they're in your class, why are you frustrated when they don't share stuff, especially if you don't? people have their reasons to "hoard" or gatekeep what they have. i know two people who have plagiarised module c exemplars that have been passed to them. not going to help that type of academic malpractice. besides, they're likely going to share whatever they have post trials anyways so it doesn't matter.
* "secret" private tutoring? this isn't the classroom of the elite. it's their choice if they want to tell people about it or not. not a big deal. it's not like they're out to get you.

overall, what would you say? just mind your own business. if you don't want to hear about it, just don't talk to them. and people are truly at their worst during trials, this is temporary.

the hsc might feel like it is a race against everyone else and while it is try and look at it as a race between you and yourself, try and beat yourself rather than comparing yourself the others, i know that isn't an easy thing bc i struggle with this myself, but in the end it is up to YOU on how well you perform, ignore how everyone else is doing and how they are going, put that thought and effort into yourself, and you'll see how much more confident you'll feel in your studies, take it easy its not the end of the world xx

I found the tangent to the circle given a gradient of 1, and just waffled about it lying between 2±√3. I had nothing for b)

yea exactly, I just said that regardless of the value of the gradient, as long as d is within that domain, it will cross the circle at two points and just drew a random line as an example. Full shambles tho, hoping I get at least 1 for it. for b) i knew we had to use distance formula but i had no clue from there. Guessing there was a shortcut for the question as it was a 2 marker.

ALSO ALSO, for that question which said determine stationary points, point of inflection, and draw the graph. HOW TF DO U KNOW WHICH STATIONARY POINT IS MAXIMA OR MINIMA IF U DONT FIND THE NATURE. like why tf u specifying u dont need to find nature, i literally crossed that line out and just still did the nature. fuck cssa. also sorry for the rant, im just pissed

I'm scared for ext 1 now
we practically guaranteed a geo vector proofs since last yr they didn't get any. I found it hilarious that last year's people were absolutely robbed for not having any geo proofs in trials and then they end up getting that as their hardest question in hsc. I mean if they follow the trend as usual, they will throw in a nasty projectile but idk. I have a feeling they may put in a harder volumes question since thats rlly the only topic that hasn't featured in q14. dont think the inflow/outflow question will appear🤷‍♂️

based on what is being said about the cssa maths adv exam, i think chemistry is going to be hell tomorrow...
people are saying it wasn't harder than last yrs but I found it harder idk. tbh getting 85 was rlly achievable and from there its hit or miss. Even the second last question ain't bad as mentioned by someone before. Idk about other 3u people but I hate studying for 2u.
