Julie Bishop is horrible to watch on TV and in parliament. All she cares about is fucking up Gillard. It's hilarious.

I think we're being a bit personal here Slidey. When she was education minister she used to come off a bit icy but I think she's sorted that out now. That plagarism business was a bit embarrassing but not really as far as political mistakes go and her stint as shadow treasurer was as much undermined by Turnbull as anyone else because the brilliant man wanted to be doing all the talking about economic policy. She's ok, better than Abbott for sure.

It's in no way over for Rudd - it's reasonably normal for a first term government approaching election day.

That said, I wouldn't mind if he were deposed. Preferably by Gillard rather than Abbott.

Gillard at best has conditional numbers: eg if Rudd loses more than 5 seats at the electorate and still refuses to pass this, this and that through the senate once the greens hold the balance of power we will vote for you. She is a terribly divisive woman and the three roosters who now seem to innocuous and boring will reveal themselves as the vicious political animals they really are should Gillard make a real play for the leadership.

If Rudd wins the election and he doesn't only just limp over the line there will be a lot of "how silly we were to doubt him" sentiment which will buy him at the very least a years grace. Even then a lot of the old Beazley guard will quite simply prefer a Rudd premiership to a Gillard one and if they think Rudd's leadership is not tenable, one of them will throw their hat in the ring themselves. I favour Smith but Swan and Shorten also have very powerful friends and allies in the ALP.

it goes down to the question of his leadership skills and political form ie. abbott in my eyes gets no credit for opposing a mining tax when he proposes to tax business for PPL. same thing, really - massive hypocrisy but i guess that's politics for you.
