Marcus likes the dual aspect of the work. It gives a sense of the flotsam and jetsam of the ocean; and of the ocean during the day, and the ocean during the night. After looking at it again, Marcus would like to say that he thinks it is doubly cool.

Lynn is impressed at Marcus' perceptiveness.

The work was inspired by the Treveli Fountain in Rome - the two horses, one calm, one wild, representing dual natures of the sea. Lynn had lots of fun with natural/synthetic fabrics, vertical/horizontal/diagonal lines, drape/texture, shiny/matte, sheer/opaque, day/night, light/dark etc. The hanging details do indeed represent flotsam and jetsam.

:D

PS: Lynn wonders whether Alan has finished looking at/downloading pictures yet.

Marcus congratulates Lynn for making such a great work. The reason he could see what Lynn intended is because Lynn showed it well.

Marcus finds dualities fascinating. He thought of another dimension to Lynn's work: the sea as the Great Mother in her dual aspects - as light mother, and as dark mother.
Marcus also likes Lynn's experimentation with, and use of fabrics.

He indeed has, and has placed the medium shot one up on his desktop, for he now fantasies about Lynn in (he promises) non-sexual ways.

But dont worry! Alan's obsession with Lynn will die over a few years. Just give it some time.

Marcus finds Alan both amusing and vaguely disturbing.

Lynn agrees. But Lynn still loves Alan, so all is good.

Lynn wonders whether Great Mother had 3 aspects - Maid, Mother and Crone? (or something like that)

Alan has been told so many times before. But he has also been told that he is not so disturbing in real life. Actually, Alan paraphrased, exactly it was "But dont worry, my gay friend isnt so much of a dickhead online as he is in real life. He's such a waste."

Alan has been called 'such a waste' many times before. Dickhead many more times.

But anyway, Alan is off to sleep. He bids all farewell, and a cricket-free night.

That's "The Three Ages of Woman", an artwork by Gustav Klimt. It draws on the Celtic notion of the goddess in her tripartite expression. I was referring to the Hindu and Assyro-Babylonian duality of the Great Mother.

Marcus is offended that someone would call Alan a dickhead and a waste. He wishes to tell Alan that he is none of these things, and will always be valued and respected by us. Marcus wishes Alan a nice nights sleep, free from crickets or other crawly things.

Ahh! Lynn is only familiar with Celtic interpretation. Lynn wants to know more about Hindu and Persian Great Mother, but worries that Marcus may need to get to sleep. If not, she is all ears! (Lynn loves stories)

Lynn echoes Marcus' sentiment. Alan is a unique individual who is known and loved by us, and if one should hurt our dear friend we shall be most displeased and we shall take action.

Marcus is quite tired. He promises that tomorrow he will pull out the mythology book and go straight to the Assyro-Babylonian (sorry, I got mixed up, its not the Persian one. The Persians were Zoroastrians) and Hindu stories of the Great Mother and the Goddess (the Hindu one is particularly interesting. Its about the duality of the Goddess as Durga and Kali). But, he really does have to go to sleep.

Lynn admits that it is time for her to go to bed as well, and eagerly looks forward to Marcus' tale tommorrow night.

She wishes him a good night's sleep with exciting dreams filled with colourful historical personalities!

Marcus thanks Lynn, :) and wishes her sweet dreams also. "Sweet dreams!" (Marcus believes that his use of both third and first person to say the same thing was superfluous, but he did it anyway). He hopes Lynn has a good day tomorrow and looks forwards to speaking to her tomorrow evening.
