She got a better offer at Wenona School. She was seriously the best music teacher ever. When she told me she was leaving I nearly had a heart attack.

I work for her now anyway, so she was still giving me advice and everything. What school is yours?

Edit: Also, how did you know who my teacher was? :p

I worked for the community chorus she conducts, accompanying. I loved that job. Too bad I was just replacing the main accompanist, who I've been told isn't that good :(

Ok. I have multiple frustrations.

-I cannot reach the vocal highs of a few City and Colour songs without straining/pulling a ghey face/moving the capo lower (which i don't like doing).

-I want to start a little acoustic/folk side project. I have themes and subjects to write about but just the thought of writing a song makes me feel like a cliche adolescent trying to write "touching/emotional/lovey" songs.

...and a few more which i cannot remember at this point in time. Anyways, help is appreciated. :spin:

Simple. Research and do singing exersizes. Research foods and drinks that have a negative effect on your voice before singing and do not consume them before singing.

Don't let your perceptions of others expectations get in your way. Compose all you want. In the end, who cares what others think? It's YOUR music. YOUR project. It can sound like whatever the hell you want.

I've been composing since 11, and have gotten that kind of attention. Simply don't acknowledge it.

i am frustrated by the fact that i am a lefty handed musician that has no place in an orchestra and having to pay extra for everyhting
i feel your pain dude, playing left handed is shit

i silently curse my old teacher all the time for being like "oh you write left handed? here, i'll string it up the other way for you so you can play it like a leftie" .. fuck you.

Pay attention the the postioning of your head, and neck. If your head is to low or too high (which is very easy to do), you restrict the notes you can reach. After learning this, my range shot up dramatically, and now, with no 'formal' training, sits around 4 octaves.

That's a bit more considerate than some. Our school had left-handed guitars. Two of them lol.

I know some teachers that simply say "live with it and learn right-handed."

no way, if i were a guitar teacher i would never ever suggest they learned to play left handed unless they were batshit retarded at attempting to play the normal way. it's just so irritating, you can't just pick up anyone elses guitar, there are fuck all models/colours available and the ones that are, they're generally way more expensive

nowadays (if it isn't a single cutaway) i'll buy a right hand one and flip it over. i should've done this with my strat and be a hendrix rip off.

haha to be honest now i'm not a ambidextrous as i use to be because i had the habit smacked out of my system. the devil's spawn they called me
Wtf? I've heard of that. My mum is a natural leftie, but was taught to be right handed. It's thrown her sense of left and right etc. way out of wack permanently.

I became ambidextrous. I learned how to use a knife and fork the wrong way then corrected myself. I broke my right wrist severely, so learned to do everything with my left. Taught and teaching my hands to be as good as each other on the piano...

And my grandfather was abidextrous XD.

I know a guy who plays a left-handed guitar with a single cutaway, then flips it over to right -handed. Unusual though...

You do change/re-file the bridge etc. so the strings sit right?
