How to get an atar of 80-86

In order to determine this you would need to provide tings like your school rank and your rank in each subject or marks.

    Should've dropped maths...what now?

I feel like you "could" have asked to pick business up again. I missed out 8 weeks of term 4 of year 11 due to hospitalisation and it IS possible to catch up on 8 weeks of content. I'm comparing business studies to legal cos it's quite similar I guess. If you regret maths, there is no going back...

Should I drop down to 10 units?

If I was you, I would not drop. Ancient history is a bullshitting subject. I'm not saying it in a mean way because it was actually one of my favourite subjects. See how you like your option topics first. The core, I found was interesting but a lot of people hated it so much. You also can't...

    Are textbooks a necessity?

Notes and past papers are a lot more important but textbooks are too! I know sometimes in heavy content subjects, textbooks help break down the details into categories and makes summarising and memorising a lot easier.

    Nelsons Bay?

It's alright. Port Stephens isn't really a schoolies destination but if you guys just want to head up there to chill and stuff it's good. Just not the partying.

    UWS Bonus Points ...

How does it work? Like if you get bonus points for regional and EAS, making you at least like 8 points below the cut-off or something, do you still get priority? Or would other people who got higher than you get your 1st preference because it's theirs too? I think I read somewhere saying that...

    Chances for EAS

I think your chances are pretty good. You could get a 93-94 ATAR because your school may push you up as well.

    Belonging: Related Text Suggestions

My prescribed was Skrzynecki and I used Nino Cullotta's film They're A Weird Mob which you can find on YouTube. It's really good in exploring the themes of migration which links in with Skrzynecki's poetry. Another good thing about it is that not a lot of people know about it so you will...

Can you have a part time job + complete the HSC course effectively?

No I didn't have a job but some people like it better because it helps keep them busy and therefore they are a lot more productive when they have spare time in comparison to others who just laze around all the time because they have too much time to waste. It depends on what type of person you...

Someone reassure me that hospitality scales well

Saying that it scales better than business or "well" would be a lie but in saying that, if you are doing well (coming 1st or 2nd) you should be fine.
  11. T

What happens if you don't sit trials or the actual HSC?

Yes but what happens in the case where a student doesn't sit ANY of the trials or HSC exams? Do they get an estimate based on their small assessment ranks in the cohort? Isn't that a bit unfair in the sense that trials are usually harder than the smaller assessments?
  12. T

Higher rank, lower mark/lower rank, higher mark

You really can't tell which ones get scaled better because it differs from year to year. I would say that it would be easier for you to obtain a band 6 in legal then modern even though I don't do modern myself but I assume it's the same as ancient where it can be pretty unpredictable whereas...

What happens if you don't sit trials or the actual HSC?

Would you even be eligible for an ATAR.

Prescribed and related text of the same form?

I am pretty sure you aren't allowed the same text type for your supplementary text in AOS but it doesn't matter in Module C, although it is still not recommended.

To those who think they will fail!

Exactly ... I mean, everybody has their own personal expectations.

    Completely dropping Mathematics?

You would need a few prelim things from bio as it builds on in year 12. As a safer option I would definitely pick up bio again. I know you just missed 3 weeks worth of work but I think it would be worth it and it isn't too late for that. Why can't you keep both maths and bio for the first term...
