    Postgrad Dentistry

Yes. I agree with deltastrider. I would be good, but not essential, for you to choose to do a generic B Sc degree or B MedSc.

    Graduate vs undergraduate entry

Oh. it would be good though for those who wish to pursue a PhD later on the track to gain some lab experience during their med degree. PhD is going well. Got 1 paper published, another two in the middle of a long peer-review process. Can't complain I suppose! Not sure what will happen with...

    Biomed/medical science

There are the same thing - just different names. If you are into medical research, then MedSc is perfect for you. MedSc is a more specialised Science degree.

    Graduate vs undergraduate entry

Hey Point, how much hand-on research do you have to do for your med degree? UNSW has a research component where students join a research lab for a semester or so. Did you do that? How did you find it?

As to whether there will be more/less than 15 students being chosen for Med entry I am not too sure. But it wouldn't hurt to apply considering it is one extra alternative route for med entry compared with non-MedSc students. :)

    WAM, UAI and GPA

Yes it is competitive. But at least there are 15 places more than if you are not doing MedSc.

    Forensic Science

It's just like any other medical and life science courses but with special emphasis of applying scientific principles in forensics. For example, a B MedSc student in his 3rd year may learn about the pathway of Salmonella in the invasion of host cells via Type III secretion system; a 3rd year...

    Final Result releasing date?

It's hard to say actually. In 3rd/4th year most of the exams are no longer multiple choice-based. So it does take longer to mark exams with essays. In a way it does take longer also because the course coordinator usually mark every paper because the course is usually enrolled with no more than...

I have to agree with ianc. I am teaching med students at the moment and the stuff they learn is way simpler than what a science student learn. Med is more focused on clinical diagnoses and symptoms, whereas science students learn more about the mechanism of diseases and how pathogens interact...

    Ebola-help urgently please!

The problem is we don't know much about Ebola because the patient die so fast. So it would be difficult to track the immune response. Try using www.scholar.google.com and try to find scientific papers on the topic.

    URGENT HELP Pasteur's fermentaion experiment

Hi djet. Your description of both experiment is very brief and I am not sure how much help I can offer. From what I can see, you are putting yeasts into some sort of starting material inside the flask and you are trying to observe if fermentation occurs in the presence of yeasts? (by the way...

I now know what you mean by completely random questions in BIOC2101

When I did the course, we had a group mark, so everyone in the group got the same mark (unless when you do peer assessment of each other you assess the others badly and say this person did no work etc). Personally I like presentations but I don't like the idea of having to get marked along...

ichiraku: I'm glad you've survived biochem exam. Third year biochem courses are completely different (as suggested by many of my friends). Human biochem is especially interesting because you are not required to memorise those pathways anymore. You apply biochemistry to human metabolism. One of...
